| Is there a good not overly expensive place in the Vegas area to learn knife fighting? |

Barry Yedwabnik of BladeSmart Systems. I have known him for almost 30 years. He is a second generation student of Bruce Lee, having studied under Inosanto and Bustillo among others and has been teaching at least 26 years:

Just grab your knife and in a animalistic rage, while holding them with one hand, stab the person as many times as you can in as many places as you can, as quickly as you can that's usually how it goes down anyway and its pretty hard/impossible to stop "that's usually how it goes" if you haven't had any training or don't practice what you've learned from the class you did attend.

Most knife attacks happen by surprise and by time you know whats going on its too late unless you are the one surprising. If you find yourself face to face with another person with a knife and your going to duke it out then you are already in a bad situation and the one with the will to kill as fast as they can will come out on top. If you go into it thinking you will disarm them or disable will probably get you killed. About the only good thing I learned from any knife fighting course is how to protect your vital areas and attack and kill as quick as possible. In most cases running or vary best is having great situational awareness will get you out of more trouble than staying and fighting. If you engage in knife fighting expect to get cut and prepare your mind for that.
This is assuming that you are just going to take some light knife training courses. If you plan to devote years of your life to it and get really fast that is another thing entirely. A good hand to hand combat course and carrying a gun will do better than a knife course but if the price is right go for it. Just keep in mind that if you get over confident with a knife you can put yourself in a situation that might not be so good. Disclaimer, I am no expert or professional and most of this is my opinion based on real life situations. |

| I have my CCW, and carry everywhere. I also carry a knife everywhere I go as a backup but don't know how to properly use it other than ...(Just grab your knife and in a animalistic rage, while holding them with one hand, stab the person as many times as you can in as many places as you can, as quickly as you can). I would just like some general knowledge, and techniques. I'm not looking to devote years to it. |

Hmm I'm interested in finding a place too - I will be attending the Cecil Burch seminar:
http://www.invictustraining.com/CecilBurch.html Hopefully we can put together a training group from that. I agree with Danman and am not interested in 'knife fighting' classes but learning realistic self defense w/ and against knife. |
