What are the rules in Nevada for building a ar pistol.  I bought a stipped lower from psa that has never been a rifle or anything its just stripped naked.  Do i have to do anything special to make it into a pistol.  When i bought it from psa i never was presented with a option of stating if it would be pistol or rifle it was just sold as a stipped lower.  And my ffl said it didnt matter on his end cause it is wrote down as OTHER on the brady form.
Does it have to be registered as a pistol
Do i have to have any thing engraved on it stating it is a pistol ( dont plan on making it SBR now maybe down the road but just pistol for now)
Do i need to do any kind of personal record that it was a pistol and never a rifle.

I live in reno also if that helps I know vegas has its own gun rules.  Thanks for any info

Cool that's kinda what I have gathered from the info here.  So Nevada doesn't require it to be registered at all?  I know some states do but couldn't find in nv requires it

Only Clark County requires handgun registration.  All other NV counties are free from oppression.

If the barrel is under 12", then yes it has to be registered in Clark County.  See NRS 244.364 below. Since you live in Reno, it doesn't apply to you "...county whose population is 700,000 or more has required by ordinance or regulation adopted before June 13, 1989".

No, it does not have to be engraved unless you plan on making it and SBR.  You do need to have a pistol buffer tube on the lower.  It cannot accept a stock.  Also, you cannot have a vertical foregrip on a pistol.

Do i need to do any kind of personal record that it was a pistol and never a rifle.

No, you do not. The receiver is registered as other when purchased. Unless the lower specifically says pistol on it, then you can't make it and SBR.  If it does not, refer to the second answer above...no stock and no VFG.

NRS 244.364  Limited authority to regulate firearms; restrictions concerning registration of certain firearms in county whose population is 700,000 or more.

    1.  Except as otherwise provided by specific statute, the Legislature reserves for itself such rights and powers as are necessary to regulate the transfer, sale, purchase, possession, ownership, transportation, registration and licensing of firearms and ammunition in Nevada, and no county may infringe upon those rights and powers. As used in this subsection, “firearm” means any weapon from which a projectile is discharged by means of an explosive, spring, gas, air or other force.

    2.  A board of county commissioners may proscribe by ordinance or regulation the unsafe discharge of firearms.

    3.  If a board of county commissioners in a county whose population is 700,000 or more has required by ordinance or regulation adopted before June 13, 1989, the registration of a firearm capable of being concealed, the board of county commissioners shall amend such an ordinance or regulation to require:

    (a) A period of at least 60 days of residency in the county before registration of such a firearm is required.

    (b) A period of at least 72 hours for the registration of a pistol by a resident of the county upon transfer of title to the pistol to the resident by purchase, gift or any other transfer.

    4.  Except as otherwise provided in subsection 1, as used in this section:

    (a) “Firearm” means any device designed to be used as a weapon from which a projectile may be expelled through the barrel by the force of any explosion or other form of combustion.

    (b) “Firearm capable of being concealed” includes all firearms having a barrel less than 12 inches in length.

    (c) “Pistol” means a firearm capable of being concealed that is intended to be aimed and fired with one hand.

wow thats interesting so when washoe county reaches 400,00 they can start requiring handguns to be registered.  It kind of reads like they have the option to make it happen.  People would riot in the streets up here if they did that.  Who knows though with the influx of commifornians that moved here in the last decade it could be a reality some say....  I find it hard to belive that there isnt more thatn 400,00 people in washoe county anyways, washoe countys really big I know reno and sparks make up a majoirty of the pop but I think that alone is close to 400,000 now.

Thanks for the info though the search for a 300blk pistol upper will begin, gonna have to decide if i want a complete upper or build my own......

It's 700,000 .... not 400,000.  This has NOTHING to do with Washoe County.

3.  If a board of county commissioners in a county whose population is 700,000 or more has required by ordinance or regulation adopted before June 13, 1989, the registration of a firearm capable of being concealed, the board of county commissioners shall amend such an ordinance or regulation to require:

That's what I get for using the LVMPD website to cut and paste.  Sorry.  Updated my post.

OP, you only have to register in Clark County.  However, the rest still apllies about a pistol for NFA purposes.

Another feel good law that does nothing other than violate your/our/my 2A. Their system is so unorganized, it needs to be audited badly, but there's no way to audit it.  Many items are registered to people who now live out of state or no longer own the firearm in question.
