I'm needing to take some photos with a view of Reno in the background. Any recommendations? I have a 4WD so I'm up for some light off road if required.

You can get most of N. Reno from the base of Hunter Lake Trail.

West Keystone Canyon trailhead off North McCarran. You can follow the trail up a ways and have a great view. There is also an easy drive up the back of Peavine Mountain to the towers. It comes off Old North Virginia.

Yup...checked out a couple places that was mentioned in this thread and took a drive up Peavine starting in Verdi.
