Yo, straight out of the LBC, Brah..........(Long Beach County) Moved to NV when I was three.....no memories of CA .......so, "native" in mind only? lol Ditto. Born in Fresno in '73. Moved to Gardnerville in '76. Moved a lot but Home Means Nevada. I am a Naturalized Nevadan, which means I understand the culture, know the state's history, and love it like no other place on earth. |

You transfers.... Not too sure why you replied, anyway, so far I have seniority, someone will come along and change that. Yo G, Although I might have been a "transfer" when I moved here in 1977 (almost 35 years ago) from the FUCKED UP STATE OF NEW JERSEY, I consider myself a Nevadan. In the beginning it took me six months to realize that Nevada would be my home, and I might be not a "native" so to speak, I still consider Nevada my home state. Battle Born, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Bluebird, Home Means Nevada, etc. are all ingrained in my heart and soul. South, Central, Northern (and all parts in between) I LOVE Nevada. Please don't lump me in with "transfers," Bro. Just Sayin'.

Born in Ca. and parents moved to Nevada in "66" when I was 3.
Nevada is the only state I have a memory of growing up in. More importantly I am a US Citizen which means I can move to any state I want to. I consider Nevada to be my home as I was raised here spending my childhood in Carson Valley and my high school years in Lincoln County. I have three grandchildren all born in Nevada. Home is where the heart is and my Heart is in Nevada. I even remember when we learned the Nevada State Song in music class. Way out in the land of the setting sun, Where the wind blows wild and free, There's a lovely spot, just the only one That means home sweet home to me. If you follow the old Kit Carson trail, Until desert meet the hills, Oh you certainly will agree with me, It's the place of a thousand thrills. CHORUS: Home means Nevada, Home means the hills, Home means the sage and the pines. Out by the Truckee's silvery rills. Out where the sun always shines. There is a land that l love the best, Fairer than all I can see. Right in the heart of the golden west, Home means Nevada to me. Whenever the sun at the close of day Colors all the western sky, Oh, my heart returns to the desert grey And the mountains tow'ring high. Where the moon beams play in shadowed glen With the spotted fawn and doe All the lifelong night until morning light Is the loveliest place I know. By the number of responses it looks as if there are many Nevadans that are not natives by birth but are native at heart. |
| Born in Washington State, lived there until I was about 1, when my mother left and dad moved us to Wyoming where my grandparents lived at the time. Lived there until I was 7, and in December of 1990, my dad moved us over here in the middle of a snow storm. Nevada is really the only thing I remember. I remember a couple of things from Wyoming, but not much. Nevada is home, it's where I grew up, its what I love. |

I still have a few distant family members holding out down there in Long Beach. They're always telling me, "It Sucks down here in the LBC !" I thought I asked them what it meant once? Could of swore they said county, but maybe they said city ???.....Whatever, Im in NV now.....thats what counts !! |
