With the new law exempting CCW holders from background check I'm curious to know if it applies to the 3+ guns. I was previously told if you buy 3+ guns at one time you'll HAVE to do a background check and it goes to the FBI/DEA/ATF/CIA/ABC for record. If I buy 10 stripped lowers and have a CCW will I have to do this? |

The law doesn't exempt you from a background check. The law was changed to meet the ATF requirements. There has been no information from the ATF stating the permit exempts a person from a background check. We are waiting on the ATF. Wasn't that in AB282? It's entirely up to the ATF to decide if the state law meets their requirements to grant the exemption. They haven't said anything about it yet. |

Just curious, do they check your credit for a background check, such as for a job? As a guess, I would say no. There - clear as mud. The credit check is more for reliability in an employment screening and nothing to do with any of the red flags for owning a firearm. |

No such thing as a law making you 'Exempt" from the background check, never was.
BATFE may, I say again, MAY grant an exemption from ADDITIONAL background checks on each new purchase for CCW holders who have passed a background check no more than five years prior. You got a background check when you got your CCW, those who did not due to LE malfeasance are why we lost our earlier NICS exemption. As to multiple purchases, it is TWO handguns within a week, for now. Current press reports indicate that Barry Hussein Soetero Obammy intends to impose additional "Common Sense" controls along the lines demanded by Blooming Idiot-Berg very soon. This probably includes doing away with all NICS exemptions, forcing ALL FTF transactions to go through a dealer and NICS, one gun a month restrictions, Siaga ban, magazine ban, etc. Note that NONE of this is intended to go through congress, the plan ("Working under the radar") is for "Administrative action", executive orders and/or new BATFE "Ruling". We did well in this years Nevada legislature, but it may not mean squat if our new emperor gets his way. The only practical response for now is to contact our members of congress and raise a major stink. Next step is to vote all the gun grabbers out of office next year, that includes O-bumble. |

What are you talking about when you mention the two handgun a week? Last I heard multiple purchase reporting had nothing to do with a background check. It was an ATF requirement for a FFL. Two or more handguns a week = Multiple sale report to be filed with BATFE, local CLEO, and the dealers own records. This is one thing that WILL be checked during a compliance inspection, Nevada "Brady Check" info will be in the ATF agents hand for verification. I did not say it resulted in addition background checks, but sold separately does mean a separate check for each sale, even if done minutes apart on the same day. |

The OP has been given some misinformation and I think whoever told it to him was probably talking about the multiple handgun disposition. |

please explain....since you own a gun shop and have to deal with this locally. 1. You can buy as many guns as you want at any time and put them all on one 4473/background
2. If two or more of those guns are handguns then there is a separate form filled out and sent to LE. Same form is used any time two or more handguns are bought in less than a week. 3. We do not have our exemption back and will not until ATF decides they want to give it back. They may never reinstate it. |

I was under the impression that AB282 brought back the CCW exemption. I was following Richard's thread about it and saw it passed. AB 282 brought back the POSSIBILITY of the exemption We are now in compliance with BATFE's stated requirements. Unless BATFE has now instituted additional secret requirements, we SHOULD have our exemption back. One reason passage of AB 282 was delayed was waiting on an answer from BATFE as to weather or not it would meet their requirements. So there is no reason beyond BATFE foot-dragging for us not to have our NICS exemption back. I suggest a call to senator Dean Hellers office asking him to encourage BATFE to issue the damn letter. |

Thanks again Richard. I assumed permit holders were exempt when AB282 passed...as we can see ![]() Quoted: Quoted: I was under the impression that AB282 brought back the CCW exemption. Thanks again Richard. I assumed permit holders were exempt when AB282 passed...as we can see you're not the only one, i had a buddy of mine asking me about this on saturday at the gunshow. however, the ability to grant the exemption has never been a state level issue, at the state level we can only set up the conditions to let it happen, it's up to the feds to make it happen. |

I just want to get my facts straight and I trust THIS section more than most sources about what's going on with the legalities of firearm ownership in Nevada. It's been a while since I was able to skip the background check and spend that $35 on shooting my new gun...I also see PSA has some lowers on sale and I'd like to buy 3 or so more and just pay and leave. From what I've learned lowers don't get sent to the BAFTE like handguns do. Quoted: Quoted: Thanks again Richard.
