It was viewed by ignorant Hollywood types who thought they were experiencing a war epiphany when they were really being fed pseudo-documentary bullshit. Giving it Best Picture let them check that "honor the troops" box on their list of politically-correct/fashionable things to do. |

HLs style was like Michael Moore.....shoot it to look documentaryish. Doesnt hurt to put a female director in a male topic. the Academy is less aware than I am of the truth regarding the matrial being covered, so the fact htat it isn't documentary doesn't take away from the documentary "style" again like moore's work, except that since he pretended he was makign documentaries, a few people actually looked some stuff up to see what he was smoking. |
