I was driving downtown today saw the sign and forgot the show was this weekend... I got too much to do today. So, maybe I  will make it out there tomorrow. Anybody see any good deals?
3/6/2010 2:26:24 PM EDT
[#3]
Still $14.00 to get in and $3.00 for parking?
3/6/2010 3:11:00 PM EDT

Parking went up to $4.00. They get you every way they can.

So now you can pay $18 to not get any bargins, while being abused by the all knowing table top dealers.

I d rather drop all 18 of those Washington's at a strip club...at least you can bring home some stripper dust..

We arrived there a bit after 10:00am and the line was around the corner to buy your ticket, but after paying $4  to park i was committed
Not sure if i had seen any great deals there, ammo sales were brisk but not worth the wait for 380 or 25acp  if they did have a box? Did meet some vendors trying to sell me a $85 pager holster or  $45 GI shovel, I did find a magazine for an high standard pistol, a factory ruger mini-30 magazine  and some paper  zombie targets. My partner made out with some low cost camo, ammo cans and holster.  i guess there was savings in shipping cost for a few items?

no deals to be found. LOTS of stuff for TWICE the price you can find it for online.

parking lot was absolutely packed, and Le Cordon Bleu was having their graduation next door.

was there this morning to kill some time. more beef jerkys, airsoft guns and a bunch of crap. At least I got to see the 2 chicks in bikinis right by the footspa! SOG booth was freaking insane! they still think it was 2 yrs ago with their ar pricing.

Picked up a bunch of personal defense ammo in 380 and 9mm. Also got a couple mags.

You just need to be a smart shopper and know what you are looking for before-hand. There are good deals to be had, but you need to negotiate if you want to get them. At a gun show, the sticker price really is the sucker price.

A while back I picked up a Trijicon TA31RCO-M150 for $1000 out the door from the "One Eyed Jack" dude. The closest price I ever saw on that was $1200 + Tax.

What bugs me about the shows is all the crap. I'm not talking about jerky and jewelry, but the massive amounts of cheap knockoffs sold as the real deal. If you're looking for quality name-brand accessories you'll have a tough time.

Did anyone notice all the empty tables on the North East side?

After attending, the gun show confuses me.  Those things that confuse me the most are:

(1) Same high priced stuff, show after show.
Do sellers really want to continue to haul around a bunch of over priced gun stuff and waste their weekends being asked "how much is this?" and than the customer setting it down with a smirk.
Wouldn't you think that they would sell their goods at a competitive price only to sell more and than buy more to restock(it isn't like there is a big shortage).
Gun shows are a business right?

(2) Why does a gun show allow trinkets, crystal and other non-gun related stuff to be sold?
I am sure most would respond that these are the wives of the gun sellers or that Cashman Center is in a busniess to sell space and space is space.
By allowing this to occur, the Crossraods people cheapen the whole gun show experience.

(3) Why would anyone pay $18($14 +$4) to go to a gun show?
It is almost like paying money to go to a gunstore not to mention to park in their parking lot!  Not to mention your time or gas money.

Isn't the bottom line with a gun show that you will find what you want at a great price sence the sellers overhead is/should be very low and their mark up accordingly?
Becasue if this was true, 98% of the time, it is missing the mark!!

I feel that gun shows are 1980's and the internet is today.  Find exactly what you want at the best price possible and pay no sales taxes in the mean time at 2:00 in the afternoon or 2:00 in the morning it is 24/7 and no one is going to burn up your Saturday morning and ask for $18 just to get in.  Gun shows should be paying US to come to their gathering so they can sell their stuff to us.

I do recognoize that there are some people who just enjoy walking around looking at gun related stuff and mingling with the local gun community.

Thoughts?

Why do you bother wasting your time?  If you are going to associate with like minded people fine, but why pay $18 to do it.  There are shoots held in the valley that are free admittance.

Good morning...  Checking in as a longtime lurker - thanks for keeping me up to speed on Nevada stuff here!.

I paid my $18 thinking that they'd have some reloading components (just getting into it).  They really didn't have much - one guy had a small selection of powders; a couple of others had a limited collection of primers and a few projectiles (nothing I was really looking for).  Nobody had presses, tumblers, etc (surprised me).  Prices weren't any better than you can get online + hazmat fee.

My only purchases were little ones - a wrench (cheaper than online), some pins and a brush.  I've confirmed that there's not much point in going...

it USED to be that you could get "hands on" with some of the new stuff, find deals and find the odd single items that you wouldn't see in a shop.

didn't see much of that this time.

one vendor with a bunch of knockoff accessories told me that his 3-prong flash hiders were NOS from the 'nam era. and *only* $20!  i found the same part online for $10 from several sources... just have to buy it from somewhere else that has other tings i want so the shipping doesn't push the price back up to $20. i've got a nice old set of A1 parts that i'd like to complete with the retro three prong FH. it currently has an A1 on the end and everything else has either a Vortex or a Phantom on it. SOG was asking $35 for 5C2 Phantoms.

i ran into one old friend who i only seem to meet at the shows. he'd picked up a .22 rifle for his nephew for $65. not likely to find that in a shop or online...shipping, background check and transfer fees would erode the deal.

there were a few hotties there.

didn't see any nice discrete cases. one vendor had the UTG cases for a cheap price... but it's junk so i won't waste any money ordering one.

a couple vendors had the korean clone Glock mags. $10 for the standard sizes and $15 for the extended mags like a G18 mag. i've heard both good and bad about these. they sell fro the same prices online, but then you need to add the shipping. i didn't get any, but i might at some point in the future... but just for practice range beaters. they'll need to get some hi-viz duct tape on the baseplate so they don't get mixxed up with REAL mags. orange baseplates would be nice, but it seems silly to spend any more money on beater mags. i normaly only buy factory Glock mags, but i'm tempted to try a few of these.

SOG had a huge stack of lowers by various brands in the case, not all were marked with prices. i didn't ask for prices on all the ones that weren't marked even tho they had some POF lowers that looked nice. those ain't in the budget right now.

Cashman rents the whole space, or a fraction of it to the show...and then the show rents the tables to the vendors. the show doesn't really care what the vendors are selling so we end up with crap like you see at some of the tables. all i can say is that it's part of the scene. it ain't gonna change so you just need to either ignore it or laugh at it.

I am glad I didn't go, didn't have time anyway.

For 18$ to gt in the door is outrageous.  For that money there should be some girls running around in bikinis.

Was this claudes show or crossroads?

Thanks

For the people looking for reloading supplies and not looking to pay online hazmat fees, Midway USA has online discounts that they email all the time like $10 off $100 and $15 off $150 and so on.  This discount is almost like getting the hazmat fee taken away.

http://www.midwayusa.com/

No to mention do taxes and a good price but you do end up spending a little on shipping.

Beats spending $18 for the LV gun show only to be dissipointed and another wasted Saturday morning

Or better still, support your local dealers.  Spurlock's up in Hendertucky has quite a bit of reloading stuff and WR Sporting over in Pahrump is usually pretty well stocked too.  There's also Bass Pro.  (I try to use them only in emergencies and support smaller shops if possible.)

Went to the show with my wife because she wanted to look for a little .22 single action pistol to use in cowboy side matches.  She found the one she wanted at a very good price.  That part was great.  But the registration table was the biggest cluster fuck I've ever seen in my life.  It was being run by Bargain Pawn and while I like Glen, this set up SUCKED.  Instead of having one person call your name and run you through the entire process, they had three "stations" set up.  Wait for your name to get called at station one...(They called my wife's name but couldn't find her gun.  She had to get back in line. )...wait for her name to get called AGAIN...get called and do some paperwork...wait for your name to get called at station two...get called and do some more paperwork...wait for your name to get called at station three...try not to kill anyone ...get called and do the final paperwork.  I won't go into any more details than to say it was a disorganized mess.  Took over two hours to get through the process.

I had a few girlfriends/classmates from UNLV who were in the business.

P.S. It takes a good man to admit they like Stripper Dust. Most are in the closet.
