Well, I'm in Vegas again, and Planning on getting together with a friend from California (Arfcommer DRhodes)

Before we make the hike up there, figured I'd just ask - Will we be able to get in and shoot on a Sunday, or will we be battling the crowds?

Also, I found the map for where -not- to shoot, but is there any known OK places to shoot? (preferably north side, since we'll only need to know if the shooting park is packed.)

Thanks

-Josh

The shooting park is really big and usually if there is a wait its only maybe 15-30 min.  It's a real nice facility

Too bad it's closed on Monday's and Tuesday's. Military gets 3 day weekend.

Thanks for the replies. Schedule got bumped around a bit, but we're gonna try to get to the park tonight yet - If not, we'll head out to one of the places in the link provided by Ziebart. Thanks bud.

You better get there right when they open or you'll be waiting depending what distance range you want to shoot.

Well, due to some scheduling conflicts... We got to the range at 6pm.

They closed at seven, we figured an hour was better than nothing ... Except they wouldnt let us shoot. "Why pay seven dollars for a half hour of shooting?" "Because back home we pay ~14 dollars an hour, so seven seems about fine." They said since we came out, and couldnt shoot, they'd give us a voucher for future use towards two free sessions... That was nice of them. I'll have to go back another day. It was pretty impressive.

The next day we set out to find some ammo (DRhodes has a 1911 in .38 Super, and managed to only bring a few mags worth of ammo.) - So, we stop at CCS guns on Rainbow. "Wondering if you have any .38 Super."

"We got .38 Special...."

"Ahh no thanks."

Then we went to the place down on Sahara that just says 'AMMO' next to all the 'boutiques' - Found some 30 year old wad-cutter reloads of .38 super (He bought 'em, better than nothing)

From there, we set out to find a place to shoot. Ended up at 'THE GUN STORE' - Their advertising brought us in, but like the rest of Vegas, its a tourist trap. We couldnt shoot because our ammo wasnt lead free.

One of the guys working there sent us up to American Shooters... - DAMN.

Nice place, Nice staff, 15 bucks for as long as we wanted, and we could leave and come back? - We were sold.

The ONLY thing that bothered me was the fact we couldnt pick up our brass (they made an exception for my buddy with his goofy .38 super) - But other than that, Great indoor.

So now that we've covered all the bases, and kinda know where to go, and where not to go... Shooting in NV seems much nicer than shooting back in Ohio...

Just went to American Shooter's Supply this past weekend and they didn't say anything about me picking up my brass.

I think they might give you grief if they see you picking up brass from other lanes too and/or going through the brass barrel scrounging.  Otherwise, I've never had a problem picking up my brass there.

It says on the wall 'all fired brass is considered lost brass, and the range officers were pretty johnny-on-the-spot with the squeegee pushing it out past the firing line to clear the floor.

I mean, i grabbed most of mine, and nobody said anything, but i'm sure they just dont want you making a production out of it.
