Had a kind of sobering encounter today.

I was at my cluster of mailboxes picking up the mail when a woman in her mid-50's approached me and asked if the GMC pickup parked there belonged to me.  I told her the truck was mine.
She said she noticed I had Marine Corps Veteran license plates, and wanted to say thank you for my service, she then pointed out the license plates on her car.  She had this license plate on it:

She told me her son had died in Iraq (Army Combat Engineer) and she had worked to get Nevada DMV to begin making these plates.  I told her thank you for her son's service and sacrifice for my country.

I looked the plate up on DMV's website.  They are issued to verified family members of fallen service members.  I'm very glad Nevada DMV does this kind thing.
