I was driving east bound on Blue Diamond when Metro pulled me over for doing 66 in a 45.  I am guilty of having a lead foot.  I gave her my DL and CCW as soon as she walked up to my truck.  She was reading and counting the weapons on my permit.  The look on her face as she was priceless.  But never made a comment.  She was very professional.  She told me to keep my hands on the steering wheel and would be right back.  30 seconds later she came back and gave me a warning.  I was on my way.

Very nice. Same thing happend to me except it was with the California Highway Patrol. I was going 98 in a 50 or was it 55mph zone. Nailed me in Fresno. Saw my CCW thought it was cool. Asked if I had weapons in my vehicle. I said no sir. Then he said dont ever speed through here again. Drive safely on your road trip. I was damn LUCKY. Would have been a $375 dollar ticket and a car towed if he wanted to jam me up.

CHP aren't nearly the dicks they are made out to be.  I was let go for 20 over in a residential(Fresno).  One of my troops was traveling through CA once and was pulled over by CHP.  He told the officer he had a loaded pistol and loaded shotgun.  During the conversation it came out he was military.  The officers said "You roll pretty hard huh?  Have a nice day and be safe."

Most patrol officers I know aren't out to write everyone a ticket for everything. Most of the time, if you are clean and have a decent driving record, they'll cut you loose with a warning. When it comes to troopers and traffic cops (motorcycles), it is a different story.
