I have a remington 700 .308 bolt action (of course).
Went shooting last week and the spent cartridge wouldn't eject. No other brand of spent case will extract either by cycling the bolt. I was shooting Brown Bear .308 and noticed that the shell that was stuck had a flattened spot on the rim. Can anyone recommend a decent smith? I'm not sure if I am going to need a new bolt body etc. I also have a Ruger GP-100 that needs to be properly sited (shooting high and to the right). I bought it used and it probably needs to get dialed in. Thanks! |

Thanks guys.
Ok, so I'm a bit of a newb with rifles. I disassembled the bolt (bolt plug, firing pin, etc.) from the back of the bolt and looked at the bolt face. I CAN'T FIND MY EXTRACTOR!! I'm a little bit of a newb with rifles, so once you're done laughing (I laughed too). Where should it be? According to the diagram it should sit just inside the bolt face. Is it possible that it was ripped out with the bad round? From what I've gathered, I should just be able to pinch one in there, but I don't see anything that looks like it can be taken out. I've seen all the write ups about Remington extractor problems. Any thoughts? Thanks again guys. Your knowledge is invaluable. |
