Getting ready to move into my new house, and looking at alarm/monitoring systems. Anyone have a company they have and like?

If you want something annoying, no police response, and a security service that is slow to respond, pick anything except Sonitrol.

This only applies to S. Nv though

2 German Shepherds, and a man behind the door with a 12gauge.

What do I know though, I am just a country boy.

I have ADT. The system was free. I pay monitoring for 3 years at a time. This provides a substantial discount that makes my home insurance low enough to be cheaper than without the service.

I have no real faith in the system except what instant noise and armed old fat guy response brings to the table, which usually will suffice.

If you are looking for something alarm oriented, ADT is pretty hard to beat cost wise.

I was just on their web site as I am in the same position as the OP and I couldnt find anything about them doing home systems. Are you sure that they do home security?

If I had a guy with your pedigree as my neighbor, I'd screw the alarm system and just buy you a case of beer every week.  Issue resolved.  ;)

Thanks Guys.

I have definately helped prevent and help solve crimes in my neighborhood. The cops in my area are great and when I call they RESPOND. Kudos to Metro for Covering My Six over the years.

On the other hand, the neighbor with the Sonitrol system carries his CCW gun in Condition Three with the safety on either in a fanny pack, or a briefcase. I guess if he is at home he will have time to retrieve and load his weapon (hence the Sonitrol), but on the street with a Condition Three weapon he runs the risk of being horizontal with the pavement as his bed, and a yellow plastic sheet as his bedding.

I can just hear the Metro dispatch:

"Code 3, Code 3. Call from Joe. Sh*t must have really hit the fan .... ALL units respond immediately! Use extra caution on the scene - If Joe couldn't handle it, officers must proceed with extreme caution ..."

I had to look up condition 3. I am glad not to be that guy.
2 dogs would be better than an alarm that most would ignore or be annoyed by.

I concur, dogs are a big plus.

Some of us have to carry in condition 3 with the clipdraw (best thing since sliced bread) .

What do you like about the clip draw?

I'm also in the same position and it was a pain in the ass to find on their site.  It's under Resources.  http://www.sonitrol.com/default.aspx?page=resourcesresidential

If you already have an alarm and want it monitored, some of the guys in Security forum here suggested these guys: http://www.safemart.com/Alarm-System-Monitoring.html.  They also sell security systems.
