I don't think they would be particularly harsh, looking at muzzle energy. Anyway, I ran some figures with the three most common "this is why this load is better than yours!" numbers, and here is what I came up with...
Speer Gold Dot .45acp : 404 ft-lbs / 29 momentum / 13 Taylor KO Golden Saber .45acp : 390 ft-lbs / 28 momentum / 12 Taylor KO Golden Saber .40s&w : 484 ft-lbs / 27 momentum / 10 Taylor KO 50GI 240 LSWC 750 fps : 299 ft-lbs / 25 momentum / 12 Taylor KO 50GI 300 FP 720 fps : 345 ft-lbs / 30 momentum / 15 Taylor KO (factory round) 50GI 275 JHP 890 fps : 483 ft-lbs / 34 momentum / 17 Taylor KO (factory round) 50GI 300 JHP 860 fps : 492 ft-lbs / 36 momentum / 18 Taylor KO So I guess unless you believe muzzle energy is the determining factor, the 50GI is somewhat intriguing. Anyone getting one? :) -Caver |
