| Hows the drive up to Reno? Going to Lake of the Woods in Klamath Falls OR this weekend. Havne't been up north since I moved here in dec. How is the drive? |
Long, but worth it. Just fill up in Vegas, Top off in Beatty, Tonopah, and Henderson and you will be fine. Most of the locations on the map are barely there on 95. |

I believe he meant to say Beatty, Tonopah and Hawthorne. Those are the only towns of any note along 95 between Vegas and Yerington or Fallon. I made the drive from Douglas county to Crater Lake through Klamath in 2003. Very nice drive but it will take you a good 8 hours to get to Reno and another 8+ to get to Klamath. |
Oops, Hawthorne. DON'T speed excessively. They are like ants out there, and ALL of us are outsiders to them. |

Well, made it back from Klamath Falls and Crater Lake was AMAZING. Definately worth the drive. Saw like one cop each way. Made the trip i about 11.5 hrs. There is a whole lot of nothing and tiny towns which gave me the creepy feeling if you got stopped by the local PD, you were never to be heard from again. Thank the good Lord for satallite radio. |
Nevada has virtually no "local" PD outside of the larger towns like Reno, Sparks, Henderson, etc. The vast majority of towns in NV. contract their law enforcement via the county sheriff. Makes it easier to field a better force than when each podunk has to foot the bill for separate departments. Some municipalities have a constable or marshal but most all law enforcement outside of the larger cities here is done by the sheriff. |
