I went to a website that sells lots of gun-related items.  Their prices are really good, but their reputation is questionable.  Since I am thinking of taking a defense pistol course requiring elbow & knee pads, I decided to buy them from this place, along with some items that were on sale.

Anyway, the ad says "Alta Tactical Elbow & Knee Pads".  It goes on to describe both and has pictures of both in various colors.  Then at the bottom, it has an item number and a bold faced price $9.95.  Then it has a couple of drop down menus below that.  One menu says elbows and if you bring it down, it says "Knee Add $10(+10).  The other menu is for colors.

I took that to mean that if you buy the elbow pads only, it is $9.95.  I also understood that if you get the knee pads also, then it would be $19.95 for both.  Does that make sense?  Or, should I have interpreted that ad to mean that I was going to pay $29.90 for both?

BTW, I received an order confirmation that said "Alta Tactical Elbow & Knee Pads"...$19.95.  And I later received a receipt that said "Alta Tactical Elbow & Knee Pads"...$19.95.  The problem is that I was only sent the knee pads.

You're probably talking about Botach. I went to the site and set-up a mock order for elbow and knee pads to see if the same thing would happen to me.

The Alta order page is for elbow pads. If you want to add knee pads you have to go to the drop down menu and add them for $10.00. When I tried it the first time I inadvertantly hit the Buy/RFQ button (for the elbow pads) and then went back and added the knee pads. That made my order come out to $29.95 ($19.95 for the combo and $10.00 for the additional knee pads).

All I had to do is remove the first set of elbow pads from the invoice and I was left with the combo for $19.95.

Fortunately I have several sets of knee pads and elbow pads, so I didn't put the order through.

Yeah, Botach.

Here's the link:

I did use the drop down menu that said +10 for knee.  The confirmation said elbow AND knee for $19.94.  The receipt said elbow AND knee for $19.95.  But I just received the knee pads and NO elbow pads.

No biggie, typical Botach.  I ordered the elbow pads from SKD.  Ordered them last night and received shipping confirmation today.  Good service, unlike Botach...

I have decided that I would rather pay more, than use Botach.

While they do seem a bit scattered and tend to make mistakes (they botched 2 out of 3 orders for me)....they have been very good about making my orders correct in a reasonable amount of time. I'm sure if you give them a call to let them know about their mistake they will make it right.

I have been using LA Police Gear a lot and they are outstanding. Their customer service rocks, and their shipping is quick.

I still order from Botach every now and then. They have too screwed up my orders in the past, but they have always made good on their mistakes.

the way im reading it is that the elbow pads are 9.99...
but if u want knee pads they are 19.99..
this doesnt mean that u will get both.. its ither elbow for 9 bucks or knee for 19 bucks.. plain and simple..

That is definitely a screwy listing. If I were you I would politely bring it to their attention. If you aren't satisfied with the order or their response request a refund.

I apparently am operating on a much lower mental plane than Maria from Botach, since I can't understand "plain and simple" advertising.  I guess when the order confirmation and receipt say knee and elbow for $19.95, I should know better...

BTW, I ordered the elbow pads from SKD Tactical.  I had a tracking number the next day and received the package two days after that for regular ground shipping prices.

This usually is the outcome when orders are placed through reputable dealers -

SKD is GTG and actually keeps their site constantly updated as to current stock on hand.
