What I didn't see in the legislation or the list of approved states was whether or not non-resident permits from those states would be honored. Delving deeper, what about non-resident permits presented by NV residents? As in...might we be able to get away from listing make/model/caliber (and serial # in Clark Cty) and qualifying with each f'ing semi-auto if we all just carried a Utah non-resident permit? Loopholes, it's all about the loopholes.

Right, I get that. My question is...can I carry in NV, being a NV resident, on a UT permit that I also have, on Monday without having to list my new semi-auto weapons on my NV permit I might be a genius indeed |
Which may, in itself, be a problem. Wasn't the criteria that in order for Nevada to honor an out of state permit, that the permit requirements for that state must be at least as tough as for Nevada? The question then becomes... if a state does not require you to qualify and list every weapon on the permit, does that mean it isn't "tough enough" to allow reciprocity with Nevada? In fact, if Nevada really doesn't want to reciprocate, couldn't they technically just make sure that Nevada's requirements are tougher than everyone else's? Loopholes. It's alll about the loopholes, right? ![]() -Caver |

SB 237 2. A person who possesses a permit to carry a concealed firearm that was issued by a state included in the list prepared pursuant to section 3 of this act may not carry a concealed firearm in this State if the person: (a) Becomes a resident of this State; and (b) Has not been issued a permit from the sheriff of the county in which he resides within 60 days after becoming a resident of this State. Sorry guys they got you covered. EDIT: Although with a VERY STRICT reading, if you already are an resident, you can not BECOME something you already are. BTW good luck with that argument in court...you will need it. |
You must have a NV CFP if you are a NV resident if you want to carry concealed. |
You are correct JH, I've received a few calls from Utah residents that hold Nevada CCW's asking if they move to Nevada and become a Nevada resident can they carry using their Utah CCW under the new law? The answer is no. If you are a Nevada resident you MUST possess a Nevada permit. A few years ago residents in Arizona tried carrying in Arizona using Utah permits (because there was nothing in the law that prohibited the practice) and DPS got wise to it. Arizona subsequently stipulated in statute that a resident in that state must have an Arizona CCW in order to carry concealed. |

Yeah, apparently I don't read so good There's nothing wrong with having a database checkable by law enforcement for enforcing permit validity, as long as you acquiesce that the permitting process is valid in the first place given that it's a constitutional right...I won't get into that morass. I was just looking for relief from the onerous regulations imposed regarding qualifications. Guess I'll just carry a .500 S&W revolver since I don't need to qualify with it as long as I can shoot my .22 real good. ![]() Anyway, I apologize for misreading the statute and getting everyone excited. |

What happens in this case: A military guy is stationed here, but remains a legal resident of his home state. This guy holds a Utah and a NV (obtained in Clark County) CCW. Sounds to me like that because he's not a legal NV "resident" (key word legal-resident) that he can carry on his Utah CCW. |

Alaska issues permits, they're just not required to carry in Alaska. www.dps.state.ak.us/PermitsLicensing/achp/ |
Which is why I'm so stumped as to why TX did not make it. Our CHL is attached to our TXDL. Our course is almost exactly like NV with the main difference being a 50 round course of fire at 3,7 and 15yds. Of course if you qualify with a semiauto you can carry anything. If you qual with a revolver you can only carry a revolver and specific SN#'s and calibers are not noted as there are minimum caliber requirements. <shrug>

Damn it all. So even though I got my permit as a Alaska resident when I become a Nevada resident my permit is void. I dont mind getting the permit I was just hoping to avoid having to list all the handguns individually. Seems about right for my luck |
Only thing I can tell you is if you do have to get a NV ccw go through Ishoot2live (member on here) and you will not only get your ccw but also a primary pistol course all wrapped into one - so think of it as paying for actual training -nothing wrong with that |
+ 11ty billion, I sure wish Oregun was on that list. |
