Hi I was wondering if they started doing the background check again even if you have a CCW for a firearms purchase. Anyone know?

Personally I hope they do start the fee for ccw holders again. The fee is bullshit to begin with, but ccw holders could care less about it since it doesn't effect them. Maybe if it applies to everyone there will be more people to make noise about the fee and put pressure to have it eliminated.

There are planty of states that don't act as the middle man for the brady check and thus there is no fee to to gun buyer. The $25 fee is a bullshit money grab by the state.

The fee was originally only to be temporary until the computers were paid for that were needed for performing the checks.  Since then the rate has actually gone up instead of being eliminated.  Typical .gov.

If you're joking HAHAHA!!

If you are serious you are a total asshole...  WTF would make you think it's a good thing to have the right revoked just to make us feel bad that you either can't get your permit or don't trust yourself with the responsibility.

ETA  Maybe if we're lucky we will get our rights to own assault weapons taken away and then the Kalifornians will feel great that they have all the added support for their cause..

Thanks for making my point for me. The state is charging a $25 fee that they should not be charging. The only way to get them to remove that fee is noise from a lot of people. You don't pay the fee so you could care less ,kind of like the hunters back in 94, " The AWB doesn't effect my rifles so why should I care? ".  I'm not hoping for the state of Nevada to start collecting a whole bunch more $25 fees. I'm hoping that this would motivate the new fee payers to help get rid of a fee that shouldn't be there to begin with.

As for your ETA...........

The problem with your logic is that they won't give a shit either way. As it is though, there is a way to avoid paying uncle the money, so I guess I don't understand why you're complaining about it when they have already created an out.

As far as I'm concerned, we've got much bigger problems near the surface, such as hitlery, and obamanation who would like to take your guns away. Get your CCW, avoid the fee, and choose to fight the bigger battles.

Of course, the NICS fee is a money grab.  If you are jealous or upset that CCW holders get to bypass the Brady Bunch fee while you don't, then get a CCW.

Wishing for yet another law against the interests gun owners so you will have more disgruntled gun owners is ridiculous.  You might as well ask for a total ban on firearms so you can finally have all the pro-gun people unhappy.  As John alluded to, the pro-gunners in CA are on the same side and they are getting systematically screwed by their state government because they don't have the numbers.

Even if you had every NV CCW holder believing that the NICS fee was the biggest threat to gun ownership, the fee would not be going away because that is not enough people.  You'd need non-gun and anti-gun people to complain about it.  And if you want to talk about groups who don't care about the fee, those are your people.

Isn't that an oxymoran "pro-gunners in CA are on the same side and they are getting systematically screwed by their state government because they don't have the numbers."

We are so civilized, it has reached a point where we allow people to make unjust laws taking away our sticks - those sticks being what has previously kept them from making unjust laws against us.

I agree that the NICS check fee is total BS. While my CCW gets me around the stupidity of the fee and associated hang-ups (oh, sorry, the system is down/busy/understaffed/overloaded today, we'll call you)it doesn't address the key issue that I am charged a fee to exercise my rights.
As enumerated in both the Nevada State and US Constitution, the possession of arms for legal, lawful and righteous purposes is guaranteed by our maker and protected by the Government. The practice isn't the same as the paper. The problem lies in the fact that many people don't agree with our correct interpretation of the Second Amendment.  It's easy for Sally Soccermom to understand why it's wrong to charge black citizens a fee to vote, as all Men are created equal. It's easy for her to understand why the .gov can't charge a fee to attend the church of your choice or force you to attend one. They just don't understand that the Second Amendment is not a provision for the individual states to maintain a National Guard. The logic in the terms makes little sense, especially now that we are a UNITED State and not individual nations. So, the NATIONAL Guard protects each state? Funny, cuz it certainly seems to be a branch of the standard US military, since many of our guys and gals have had to visit interesting places like Iraq and Afghanistan in recent years. To use there argument, if there is no imminent threat to Nevada, why send the Nevada NATIONAL Guard and Nevada Air NATIONAL Guard several thousand miles away to kill people that just want to be left alone? You can't have it both ways.
We are probably never gonna get the NICS check repealed. Now that the .gov entities have this ready source of income, they are unlikely to give it up. There just aren't enough of us to make the noise needed. People have become accustomed to being taxed and will not even bat an eye when another is thrown in front of them. Buy a concert ticket, register your car, own a home, pay a phone bill. The ridiculous fees and taxes just keep piling up.
Without a groundswell, you'll likely not see any change. CCW holders can be proud that enough of us got the NICS exemption reinstated last time. Look how pissed the Sheriffs and Chiefs got, blaming our "meddling activism" for their inability to balance a budget and DO THEIR JOB!

An oxymoron is a figure of speech or statement in which opposite or contradictory terms are used.  Perhaps you don't understand that pro-gun people who live in CA are in our camp just as we are in theirs.  As much as you may hate the anti-gun laws in CA, don't think for a minute that there aren't a significant number of pro-gun people who reside in that state.  They just don't have the numbers to win on the gun issue by themselves.  -I have several pro-gun friends who live in CA.  The regional NRA rep. who helps organize the NRA dinners here in Las Vegas also lives in CA.

Maybe you are trying to be funny by saying that a pro-gun Californian is an oxymoron, and if so, you are missing the mark by a wide margin...   If you want pro-gun Californians to prove their level of commitment to the cause, I suggest you move there and show them what it takes to be pro-gun in your book.   -Have fun storming the castle...

I know what an oxymoron is.

I was not trying to be funny. I feel for the Cali Pro Gunners, I moved from NY and know what its like.

Have gun + will not fight for it/with it = oxymoron      Cali + Liberal lawmakers = SOL
