| If you are carrying concealed and someone was to see your pistol print under your shirt, say in the grocery store, could you get in trouble for that? Someone I was talking with recently said that was considered brandishing. Is that correct? |

Good question but I doubt that could be a charge that could stick because they would have to prove intent. I have one better. In NV open carry is legal -right? So to what end can you go from concealed to open? Can you walk down the street in a t-shirt covering your IWB 1911 and then just decide to tuck your shirt in behind the pistol? If not what would be the charge and on what grounds? I asked this in a couple of firearm training classes and never got a concise answer. |

It depends--there are no absolutes in law. The canned phrase is "totality of the circumstances." Example 1: you are walking thru Smith's, pushing a cart, selecting bread from an aisle stand. With nothing else, I would make the argument that you weren't doing anything against the law. Example 2: You are at a presidential candidate fund raiser. Cops, SS abound, and there are metal detectors at the door, drug dogs, etc. You bend over to tie your shoe, and print. You're sure of the answer, right? Nope! the cop can decide to arrest/cite you or not....the DA can decide to charge you or not...and the Judge/Jury can decide to convict you or not... |

I moved here from TX (I am still in TX mode and often get NV laws mixed up with TX) and TX does not have open carry at all (but NV does). One day I was out and about doing stuff and my cheap Walmart belt broke. EVERYTHING hit the ground. Talk about panic-mode, 'cause that's a serious no-no there! A similar thing happened to me here in NV, and I'm pretty sure some tourists saw. I called Metro and did my "please don't arrest me, I'm not a criminal" speech. They did not care at all, and in fact seemed mildly irritated that I even called them. |
I agree. If your gat is strapped to an arm or leg, it will be totally out in the open and no problem. It definitely isn't "printing." On the other hand, it will generally conceal well if carried in the appendix position. It'll just dig you in the nuts if you bend over. I wouldn't do it with a Glock and a round in the chamber! Sorry Joe, I had to dig you.

I've been poked in the jewels by a 1911 or P220 a time or two. I agree with you on not carrying a Glock with a round in the chamber. Having a discharge at that part of the body is a scary thought. What's even scarier is that it would be self-inflicted. |
Sorry Joe, I had to dig you.
