Just got in from the BC Appleseed shoot,I had a great time meeting Fred and everyone that was there. This is an exellent deal and the AQT is no easy target, the focus is on shot placement, plain and simple. I considered myself to be a pretty good shooter and today marksman was the best I could do,210 is the score needed to become a rifleman. The best I could post was a 165,am I disappointed not even.I'm left with the desire that I can and will improve my score with practice and applying lesson's learned today. Fred and his staff are American's in every sense of the word and I feel humbled to have been able to spend the day with them, everyone seemed to be very positive and if you need help,or have questions the goal is to make you a better shooter and you won't be left guessing. The weather today was WINDY,COLD and DUSTY,we did'nt post very high scores and the conditions I think had alot to do with that,I'm happy to say that my M1A ran perfect without any malfunctions or any of the other's that were on our range.Mine is full of grit, sand, desert dirt and whatever else the wind could blow inside. The next shoot for Nevada is in Fallon...March 17/18,I hope to see you there and make sure you bring a good quality shooting mat, plenty of ammo and friends. Thanks Much, D. |

MP5,there were 3 ranges going at the same time, once you get started there's only a short break for lunch. I did'nt get to see all the hardware that other's brought, but on our range next to me was a grandfather and grandson, the little guy was shooting a 10/22 with iron sights and holding his own pretty damn good! I'd let him cover my six anytime For what I can remember there was a FAL,M1A,10/22,M1garand and a couple of AR's,M4-some kind or AR racegun and a really nice HB with a TAOSN (not sure I spelled that right) scope, and he could shoot. So bring what ya-got and be ready for a workout. I should add that the Boulder City Range is a very nice facility, and Boulder City is way different than vegas on a sunday, kids riding bikes down the street and waving at you, people actaully smile and say hello,no traffic,I would reccomend it for a nice day away. I would have loved to go, but I didnt find out about it untill the day before it started. I know 444 was out there also so I will be bending his ear on what he learned. I have purchased a few items from Fred and have always been very pleased with the servise....it would have been nice to meet him. Thanks for the report! "G" |
Holy crap! That's only an hour from here! I've been wanting to go to these and now I've got a chance.

I'm going as well. I was considering a Thunder Ranch trip in April, but for $70 the Appleseed gets a HUGE nod in terms of value. Yeah, it will be short on High Speed-Low Drag tactics, but being able to hit what you're aiming at is the more important first step. I was going to put together a thread on the subject with all the helpful links, unless someone wants to beat me to it. |
