DAMN ITS COLD!! But I got out with my 'Lil buddy Jack (13yo JRT) and my *NEW* 1984 Jeep Cherokee yesterday. Took the AR and busted one bunny. Just poking around and ended up at the gate at Indian Springs.

I picked up this little Jeep just before Christmas for $1500 from the original owner. He NEVER had it in 4WD and it only has 49,000 miles. Garage kept and it looks like new. The guy is no mechanic and a vacuum line came off so it had no cruise control or HVAC. It needs some offroad tires, but other than that its real sweet...and cheap.

Too bad it has a 2.8l V-6, probably the most gutless little motor ever to roll off an assembly line. You just don't get in a rush. Out in the dirt and in 4-Low it does just fine which is really what I want.

It could be worse, bro. My '84 Cherokee had the 2.5L four-banger coupled with that awful three-speed automatic transmission.

I have a hard time accepting that my Ayatolla's 1.6L put more horses to the road than did the Jeep's 2.5L. The little four cylinder though would have been great if it had a manual transmission. Hell, I'd probably still have it now if it had.

Oh well, C'est la vie, I guess.

Good shootin' though! It's hell of hard to spot a rabbit, dismount with rifle and fire with company, let alone doing it solo. Mad props.

the white rims are kinda loud... but not bad.

you can get black powdercoated steel rims for about $25 each... or if you hunt around, you might find some factory steel rims in gray. nice and low key. but the white rims work just fine.

+1 for the BFG TA/ko tires. good all-round performers, quiet on the freeway, grip well in most conditions off road. available everywhere so if you ever have to replace ONE tire, you won't have an oddball, or have to wait for a matching tire to be ordered.

of course, you could always spend $1,500 each on a set of dub-dubs!

+1 on the BFG TA's...That is exactly the tire I'm going to get. The 215 is the smallest that BFG has, good thing too, the poor little shit couldn't turn anything much bigger. Going to call Costco and Discount to get some prices.

Wlhen we lived in Truckee, CA, the wife had a '95 model and for the mostpart it was a good vehicle, except for the mileage.   POOR!!  Lucky to get 15 on the hiway.  It had a Straight 6 with auto; alot of power, but no mileage.  It served her well though, so couldnt complain.

I would like to find a deal like this one, that I can take to my property in WA and leave; thereby having it there when needed.  Dont need to drive the big 1 ton around for errands like groceries.

Make that an '85, not 95.  We left in 95!!
