I am looking to start building AR's and I need some information on how FFL's work.  for example:  Who in Northern Nevada is reputable?  How much does it cost?  How does it work?  Basically all the info that a new person would need.  I appreciate any input. Thanks.

An FFL-holder might charge you $20-25 to do the transfer. He might give you a copy of his FFL, and you can send/fax it to the place that has the lower you want, and you can pay for the lower and have it shipped to the FFL. You fill out the federal form 4473, and pay for the FFL's service.

You will also pay $25 for the background check, unless you have a CCW.

Most FFL-holders are reputable, as they are highly regulated by the ATF.

You can locate FFL-holders by using FFL-finders on the gun auction sites such as gunbroker, auction arms, etc.

If you are in the Reno area, go to Gunbroker and look up the contact info for Martin Fiesser.  Very nice guy, just getting started in the business and does $15 transfers plus any background check fees.

Does he charge you for sales tax?  Will he let you order and pay for stuff directly with the vendors?

Thanks

I've only run private party transfers through him.  Give him a call, he's very easy to deal with.

It would be pretty cool if we could get a collection of NV FFL holders and tack it. This would be a nice addition to the NVHTF, what would it take...besides of course compiling the list?
