I am trying to find out which Departments are Pro-CCW and who are not.  Tell me about the time you got pulled over and how the Police Officer reacted.

I have a few friends on Henderson and they are all pro CCW

It's impossible to speak for everyone, but on the whole, all the Coppers I work with and know, are pro-gun.

I pulled over a fella yesterday and saw his CCW card, I asked him what he carries etc, and we got into a good discussion on the 5.7 of all things. Turns out by the time I walked back to my car, I forgot to cite him. Dang it!

You saw it by accident or he handed it to you with his d/l?  I'm always curious about what you guys prefer as opposed to what the law says about it.

For me............The Highway Patrol for speeding.  He came up to the car, I had both hands on the wheel with DL,Reg, Insurance and CCW Card.  Told him I got a gun.  He asked where, I told him.  He looked around the car, came back with ticket,  and goodbye. Young guy    They told me on here that this guy writes the judge in that county.  Pioche.............

Now when my son(19years old) has gotten pulled over in my car and/or motorcycle, they are registered in my name, they have always asked him if he has any weapons in the car. ????  He passes the attitude test so he never has a problem expect a ticket. Metro and Highway Patrol have got him, but I am glad they slowed him down.

PS.  If he didn't pass the attiude test w/ the officer, I would tune him up when he got home or out of jail.  And his Harley would gather dust balls.

I went into the sheriff's office a few months ago. A deputy there asked "May I help You?"

I said I wanted to apply for a CCW.

He replied "Oh...COOL!"

[Lyon County]

And there is a sign on the wall that says "I don't care how they did it in California"

Another time I went in there, there was another guy was in there regarding someone threatening him. Amongst other things, they told him his CCW options and that it is legal in Nevada to keep a loaded pistol in his car, no permit required.

One of the things I love besides the open expanse(at least here Quickly being lost) is were still a Pro-Firearm State and we need the support of LEO's,
we were already Snaked for a bit and had the background check reversed for CCW holders. It's shakey ground kiddoes and Responsible FireArm ownership seems Paramount just a random thought.

Kick me to the curb,whatever

most everybody that I work with that I have talked to is pro-gun. I know my city has a lot of different laws that try to hem up people who CCW (legally or not) but that doesnt really concern me unless somebody needs an attitude adjustment

Henderson PD pulled me over (going 55 in a 25 in a construction zone where 215 becomes Lake Mead).  As he came up from behind he could not help but see the back seat folded down and the target stand in the back full of 00 buck and slug holes.  Asked me if I had a weapon and told him yes, a pump shotgun coming from the range (sloan).  Let me go with a warning.

When NHP pulls you over in Lincoln County you will get a citation. I've been fortunate that the NHP only wrote me for Wasting a Natural Resource rather than the 80 in a 65 he could have written me for. I considered that a blessing and doubt it will happen again any time soon.

It also does no good to take it to court as the local JOP always backs the NHP and she will tell you so. I have been friends with her for 25+ years and I know she would not let me off if I showed up in court contesting.

That being said you only have till the end of the month to appear in her court. She is retiring after 20+ years of service. You can't relax though because the newly elected JOP is a retired NHP LT that patroled Lincoln county for 20+ years.

Young guy  hey

I doubt that the NHP would actually write either the Pioche JOP or the Alamo JOP as the they have to appear in court before these Judges when citations are contested.  With the new JOP having been the supervisor of some of the current NHP officers it will be even less likely.

After all of that local LEO do not have a problem with CCW or open carry that I am aware of.

It won't happen again anytime soon. The law was repealed when the federal mandated speed limit was abolished.

Nevada awnsered the Feds introduction of the national speed limit with the Wasting of a Natural Resource ticket. Basically if you were doing 10 mph above the speed limit on a highway it wasn't considered a moving violation it was considered WNR. You got a small fine and admin fee but no points.

So the resource they're referring to is gas?

this is the closest I could find on a quick glance at the NRS, however it doesnt make any mention of the title of the violation

NRS 484.3685  Certain violations of speed limit in rural areas: Fines; Department not to record violation on driver’s record; violation not deemed moving traffic violation.
     1.  Except as otherwise provided in subsection 3, a person driving a motor vehicle during the hours of daylight at a speed in excess of the speed limit posted by a public authority for the portion of highway being traversed shall be punished by a fine of $25 if:

     (a) The posted speed limit is 60 miles per hour and the person is not exceeding a speed of 70 miles per hour.

     (b) The posted speed limit is 65 miles per hour and the person is not exceeding a speed of 75 miles per hour.

     (c) The posted speed limit is 70 miles per hour and the person is not exceeding a speed of 75 miles per hour.

     2.  A violation of the speed limit under any of the circumstances set forth in subsection 1 must not be recorded by the Department on a driver’s record and shall not be deemed a moving traffic violation.

     3.  The provisions of this section do not apply to a violation specified in subsection 1 that occurs in a county whose population is 100,000 or more if the portion of highway being traversed is in:

     (a) An urban area; or

     (b) An area which is adjacent to an urban area and which has been designated by the public authority that established the posted speed limit for the portion of highway being traversed as an area that requires strict observance of the posted speed limit to protect public health and safety.

Boy, you are SLOW!!!

Look at my earlier post. Law was repealed.

If you are "truly" interested, I could always open up one of my old NRS books for ya
