ok the other day i finished my first total build.. had the new guy down at citadel tighten the barrel and then took it to a buddy and checked head on it.. not a bad looking rifle.. its a busy upper with a colt barrel, mated to a dpms lower.. now for the problem.. you can manually cycle with no problem but it wont rechamber a round after it ejects the one i just shot.. does any body have any idea why this is going on.. and yes it has proper gas tube in it.. thanks jon.. |

Try the A2 stock configuration and see what happens. ETA: Variable is the best M16/AR15 mechanic I know. Although he is in Iraq right now fighting the good fight, he still posts here when he can. If He responds to your thread I would follow his advice to the T. Hope this helps.... |

You say it's ejecting the spent cases. But not loading a fresh cartridge? You say it has a carbine spring and buffer,, are you running a carbine stock? If not that is or will be a definate problem.. With so many aftermarket stocks/ springs and buffers sometimes you need to match up the right ones.. Sometimes it just takes a few rounds (100+)to get everything sort of broken in.. Buffer could be too heavy for the spring or the gas system,, try a friends buffer or spring or both if that fixes it might try break in on your own or replacement.. Is it causing a failure to feed in that dmg is occurring to the next round in the magazine? or is the next round in the magazine not being moved at all?? If next round is partially stripped but hanging up with scrapes or dmg to bullet, do you have m4 cuts on receiver and barrel? On barrel only is ok but not on receiver only.. Move to your Gas carrier key and make sure it is tight on the carrier, 99% of the time when I've seen what you describe and it's not a buffer/break in prob,, it's a carrier key that wasn't staked or was staked incorrectly to the carrier and is just a tiny bit loose. Let us know if it keeps occurring.. John P.. |
