I love the sierra nevada mountains, and would like to find a location out there for a remote retreat. I've been trying to find 5 or less acres in Nevada near the cali border. I would like to find some land in a remote location, in some good hills/mountains. Near reno, carson city, mt. grant would be great.

Beautiful sierra nevada mountains, with nevada laws!

Just checking to see if any of you fine gentlemen have any suggestions.

Thanks

Hope you are rich, any thing close to the border that is near Carson City / Reno is going to cost you an arm and a leg....

If you don't mind a short drive, check out the Elko area.I have a good friend up there right now scouting the Ruby Mountain area.

There are some area's where the acerage is still priced within reason.

Not to mention the expense of buying property in Carson City/Reno area, you will more than likely not have your "retreat" the way you have planned it in your head. You must remember that we have been plagued with a bunch of dumbass Californicators up here and just when you think you have privacy some shithead will come strollin up on their quad or dirtbike tearing up your property and saying your the asshole when you get pissed...this has happened several times to friends of the family. Go Ruby Mtns. area.

Check out BLM land leases up there. A friend from work has BLM land leases near Neadles and only pays 10  dollars per plot per year. He has about 20 Plots so he pays  about 200 a year for land that he is supose to be mineing. But I belive that he uses it as a retreat and he pays less for the land than if you had to pay taxes on land that you owned. I am considering doing this south of Vegas once I find out all of the in and outs.

well I heard if you act like your minning, and set up some equipment, and a shelter, than eventually you can get the option to buy?

second hand info... so?
