I live in the Henderson area.  I'm a rookie in this AR biz - purchased my first AR15 about four months ago. It's a postban Bush A3 16" with welded Y-comp brake.

Now I finally got some money saved up again for some accessories.  I decide to get a mid-length Knights free float RAS for it but aren't sure how difficult the task is or tools I'll need.  I like to avoid the gunsmith if this is something I could do myself, but with lack of experience with the AR15 I don't know where to start...

The problem is I don't know if working with my existing upper is the most economical way to approach this project, being this upper has a weld Y-comp brake on and a already factory cuted front sight gas block -like one in picture (appear to have enough clearance for a FF RAS over it).  How much you guys think it'll cost me to install this myself (if it's possible, I prefer this way) as suppose to having a gunsmith do the job (if require that I have to get the muzzle brake off to complete the job)

Any help is appreciated

Thanks Ed, those were some helpful visual aids. You know I figure the best way to do this is just to buy and new barrel and install on to the receiver with the FF RAS. That way I wouldn't have to agonizing over removing the brake for installation.
