Anyone insure their gun collection? I checked with my State Farm guy and they want way to much per year to insure!!! They say it's because firearms are high risk bla bla bla. And he informed me I won't get much at all if they are stolen under my current plan. Was thinking of looking online but didn't know if one of you guys had any advice?
Thanks for your time!

Look at Eastern Insurance Group.  They have a policy specifically for firearms.

Check with the NRA. They have policies based on a dollar amount of gun value. Have $10000 in guns then that's what you pay for. You will have to join if you haven't already.

State Farm would be the last insurance company I would have for anything. Years in the auto body shops watching them hose over customers. Can't believe they are even in business anymore.

My Insurance company wanted 5% of the value plus an itimized list.  NRA was around 3% with a list.  I have collectable insurance company and pay less than 1% and all they need is a list of anything over $5000 individually.  The only insure guns, cigars, sports memorabila and other collectables.

I put a rider on my homeowners insurance specifically for firearms....they didn't want a list, only an amount of money they were worth...

I tried to do it through my home owners and the lady at the front desk said they're already covered.  When I asked for how much she said "up to $5000 total"  I then heard the guy in the back room (who's also a Winchester collector) laugh so hard he almost fell out of his chair.  He knows I have indifidual guns worth more than $5000.

Rider on my home owners policy as well. Little less than $400 per year for 30k of coverage.

I had a personal articles policy through State Farm on my guns and it was very reasonable IMO.

Local insurance guys = loose lips

Take control yourself.  Consider sparing yourself the premium cost / fine print and get real secure, monitored storage.

This.

They offer replacement insurance as well.  No depreciation.  I've got a couple of shotguns that have their own individual policy.  They are pretty rare and out of production.  They are covered up to what it costs to replace the guns at market cost.

I must need a different agent then because he didn't mention any other options other than the high risk policy. If I remember right it was over $500 per year for 20k coverage.  That's way to much considering the wife's ring is insured for over 10k and it costs 20 bucks per year. They said it's because firearms are a higher risk than a ring. I laughed because it's way more likely the wife would miss place her ring than it is I would get robbed. Hopefully anyway.

Don't know if you have any .mil affiliation but if you do USAA has awesome "valuable personal property" insurance for only a couple dollars a month.
