| Wild Violet (?) has overtaken my lawn. I'm looking to hire a professional for next spring. I've seen TruGreen and Weed Man in the SE area of Wisconsin. Has anyone worked with either of these lately? Are there any others I should consider? Thanks |
| I don't know who to use in your area but don't skip the Fall in terms of a weed kill application. It takes awhile to fully kill back wild violets and a Fall application goes a long way on them. If you don't own a sprayer or have a lot of experience, at least to buy a gallon of premix weed kill with the sprayer and go around spot spraying the violets. |

This lawn needs all the treatments it can get. I'm afraid it will always be a losing battle. |
| Not sure where you're located, I'm in Waukesha and use Happy Lawns and have been very pleased with them. There's two of us in the neighborhood that use them and we really do have the best looking lawns with absolutely no weeds. Sometimes, I almost feel like telling them to hold back on the fertilizer as the grass grows TOO well. |

I used Scott's lawn service this summer because my lawn had turned 1/3 weeds. Took all season but the weeds are gone now and the lawn looks great, downside is the lawn is growing 1-2" per day from the wet weather and fertilizing that they do. +1 on Scotts. Plus if you ever find a weed in your lawn, they will come out for free and re-treat. |

i had trugreen when we lived in arkansas, wasn't happy with themweedman is supposed to be very good, but they're pricey we've had naturescape for almost 6 years, and our lawns looks pretty decent (we're in sun prairie) I had the same experience with trugreen. They did come out after an application upon request for free. $550 per year. I bought a spreader and use it 5 times a year at under $200 a year with the same if not better results. V OUT |

Last year I had Scotts and this year I had true green. The equipment true green used seemed better, but the service and results seemed better from Scotts. I'll probably go back to scotts next year. The true green guy always seemed very confused on what to treat. One time he was there I happened to be having concrete poured. He knocks on the door and is almost frantic about what to do in the area where the work is being done. My wife told him to skip that area........seemed rather obvious to me.
Yes, doing it yourself would probably save you money, but for me it was a time thing. |
