There is a 600 yard range on the south edge of Wisconsin Rapids. I'd guess it to be roughly an hour from you. It's $72/year plus.. $25 (I think) initiation fee.
The club also has a 10 lane 50 foot indoor range, but you'd have to buy a key ($150, must be a member for 6 months before you can buy a key). http://wcrifle.org/ |

For what Lodi offers the membership doesn't seem that bad, and it looks like if you do some work at the club it goes down to $150. If it was in my area I would jump at joining a club like that. Yeah, you would think so, but look at their calendar. They have so much shit scheduled that the range is only open like 1 or 2 days a week, and maybe 1 weekend a month. For what they charge, it's asinine. |

Look at the calendar again. Use of one range, does not shut down the rest. Plinking range, 200yd, is basically always avail. The high power is only reserved 2 weekends out of 5 this mo. 1 in sept.
Pistol bays do not affect the rifle ranges. Silhouette and high power do affect each other. |

They are adding another six which should be available for pistol and rifle. These range from 30-60 yards deep and plenty wide. Some of the new ones being put it are likely going to be 100+ yards for rifle and pistol (the plans are still in the works). Each of these bays has a shipping container members can access that have all the steel poppers, target stands, barricades and other things they could possibly want to use. -A 200 yard range with a covered firing line that is ALWAYS open except during gun-deer. It kind of has a static firing line - you can't run around and do a lot of drills, but it's always open. -A 100 yard range that you can get permission to shoot rifle on - and you can do movement, drills, etc there. -A pistol steel range with plate racks, knock-down plates, etc. The club runs 3 gun matches, USPSA, steel challenge as well as all the long distance stuff. Yes, there are times when the high power/silhouette range is closed for matches, but they are usually done by noon. I realize it's a lot of money, and I put off joining for years for the same reasons you guys are talking about - but once I joined, I was very happy with what I got. I don't think you'd be disappointed. |
