I am interested in joining a local disaster response group in the area. Something where after some training I could help local first responders with the situation. I found a local CERT group, however the webpage is no longer. What groups are out there and anyone have any experience?

There are a metric crap load of volunteer EMS agencies in this part of the state. Considered that route? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile This is the best idea here. My experience with CERT is not a good one. They've "assisted" with two local events and caused more problems than they solved. They were told not to return. OTOH, most local EMS/Fire Services seem to have their act together. |

Such doesn't lend itself to great performance. |

Houston I was a member of CERT. They were well organized and did a bunch of the crap work during disasters happily. They have supplemental training and a "Rodeo" every year that builds on the skills learned. The area I was in they got several thousand dollars worth of supplies stashed in a shipping container including coms and medical stuff along with a trailer. Got to Wisconsin and I don't hear anything about e preps near what it was there.
