Taking a new job in Chicago, and moving from Milwaukee area to Kenosha.  Looking for a 2 to 3 bedroom place to rent, house or apartment.  Would like to stay under $900 or so.  Closer to the Metra line the better.  I have 4 kids, so safe area and schools are a must.  Any hints, tips, or suggestions are welcome.  Areas to avoid at all cost?

If your looking for good schools stay west of 94. They have a metra line that leaves from antioch, it takes a different path but if your working downtown they both end up in the same place.

Salem/Bristol/Paddock Lake area is nice I lived there for nearly 4 years commuted to Racine, Kenosha and Milwaukee county for 3.5 years and Chicago for half a year, short run to Antioch down hwy 45 or 83, Salem school district is a really good one, cant help you on a house to rent yet, but I've got a brick 3 bedroom 3 car garage ill sell ya...ha. I've worked in just abouy all areas both Kenosha and Racine county when I worked for Wisconsin Electric I'd stay west of 94, Pleasant Prairie is alright, but ideallu the best places to live in the county are west of Hwy 45.

Thanks guys.  I used to live in Wilmot, but that was y2k and rentals were sparse back then.  Never realized they had a station in Antioch.  That opens up a lot of new areas to look in.  I refuse to live in Illinois though :)

Only caveat with the county is the house you get for your budget.
