I did some searching on the rest of the site and couldn't find anything so I figured I'd hit up my fellow state folks. I found one of these at the local gun shop the other day and it looks pretty solid. Basic 1911 style with a rail for tac-lite and a threaded barrel. Price is decent at $625. However after looking in the market at tac type 1911's, that seems kinda cheap compared to the higher end ones like Kimber, Springfield & Para Ord. I know you get what you pay for and I'm quite sure the ATI is no where near any of the main names but I like the price. Does anyone have any hands on time with these and if so, what do ya think of it?

Why not go for a Rock Island w/ a rail, you could probably spend less and from what I understand, Rock Island's are decent for the price.

Interesting link. Thanks for posting that, my search fu was not working properly. Sounds like they had good customer service but that is kind of a major issue to have wrong threads..... kind of messed up.

I think you cannot go wrong with a base model Springfield. Great gun to start from and build off of.

FWIW, I really like the Rock Island I have.  Flame did some work on it for me, so I'll let him speak to that end, but otherwise I'm very happy with how it shoots.  Sights, grips, and Duracoat.  So far has eaten everything I've thrown at it except for my father in law's lead cast rounds (they didn't feed in my Kimber either, but do just fine in his Glock and Dan Wesson).  I have the compact model, not the tactical.

For the price, I couldn't be happier.

Chalk me up as a fan of the rock island 1911's.

Wonder who makes the 1911 that ati imports?

I had a RI, malfunction with every magazine.
Sold it and bought a Glock.

Is this the same ATI that makes crappy aftermarket furniture?

Are ATI furniture maker, and American Tactical Importers of GSG fame one and the same?

Nope. ATI that makes stocks is actually located in MKE - Advanced Technology International.  ATI of GSG fame is American Tactical Imports.
