From your attitude just in this post I can't figure out why he wouldn't be excited to talk to you; truck taxpayers bought him, having to work on Saturday, overtime, etc.

I have no love for the DNR (you can check previous posts in the archive  if you want to). With a chip like that, it's no wonder he wasn't friendly.

Quad cab.. Four men and Equipment, cheaper then bringing four/two different trucks. May not do that all the time but I'm sure the need arises.
3/4 Ton, Hauling boats, fire equipment, ATVs, snowmobiles, DNR gear, excavators ext.
Diesel, they drive and haul alot, may be cheaper in the long run to get a diesel.

Looks like your daughter's ex makes him a d-bag, ok.

There is very little if any overtime for state workers, several are even dealing with furloughs. Saturday may be and most likely is his normal shift.

Yes, warden vehicles are unmarked. Maybe dont stare at people if you dont want them to stare back.

Never knew a warden who didn't work weekends. Think about it.... when are most people outdoors in the warden's "domain"?

I've known 4 DNR wardens. 3 are great guys (2 are good friends whom I've hunted with),  the 4th is a real dickhead...  even the other 3 wardens don't like him.

My wife and I were at the local Kwik Trip yesterday and were in line, noticed a DNR officer in front of us, we paid and walked out to our truck, parked next to my F-150 is the State owned Dura-max Diesel 4X4 super cab UNMARKED. We were checking out what our tax dollars bought him to ride around in, and he came out and gave us the stink eye stare down as he walked by!  He sort of looked like our daughter's ex=douchebag boyfriend, so I guess we must have stared too long at him in the store! We just assumed he was pissed for having to work a Saturday, with all the overtime and stuff.

Perhaps if you would have engaged in friendly conversation regarding his truck instead of engaging in a stare-down, you would have found yourself a friendly warden..

What makes you think he was on OT?  Most in LE including myself have rotating schedules and have every third weekend off.  OT usually is only paid after 8 hours worked in the day or after 40 hours worked in the week.

I find it unlikely the guy was working overtime... more than likely normal work schedule for him...

I just met the only friendly conservation officer I've ever interacted with on tribal lands in South Dakota.  He chatted me up about my suppressors, then pulled out his Rem 700/Bartlein barrel/Manners stock rifle and let me check it out.

But I try not to stare at people.

I know I always act nice and pleasant when I come out to find some guy looking into my car windows.
