| I am looking for .22lr ammo. This is for kids to shoot at Appleseeds this year. Unfortunately, some parents will not send their kids if it costs $50-$100+ for a brick of ammo. I subsidize several shooters every year but I can not afford to do that at these prices. I didn't stock up near enough to outlast the craziness if I have to use all of my own ammo to supply shoots. If anyone has some they will part with for a reasonable price, I would appreciate it. |

Have you looked into ordering from the CMP at all? It may be a long shot for this year but they currently list Aguila .22LR at $285 per 500 round case. Unfortunately it has a 6-12 month backorder but it may put you in a good spot for next year. I do however believe they require that your organization be affiliated with the CMP to order it, still might be worth looking into though. Below are the links for ammo and forms you would need. Good hunting

Placed an order last week with them, I've heard they often surprise with an early delivery. Figured it was worth it to order a case, if it comes early for a second appleseed trip this year cool, if not I have it for next. I've heard and read good things about them. Good luck! |

How much ammo is needed? Each shooter will typically go through a brick of 500 on a weekend. This can vary based on shooter experience and tolerance of the weather. Based on conversations I have had with people so far this year, I have set a goal of 20 bricks to support the planned local Appleseeds this summer. I feel that an estimate of 20 shooters who would not be able to come without ammo being available at the shoots is conservative. In the past week alone I met 3 families who had stated that they were going to attend but could find no ammo and did not plan ahead by purchasing it when it was available. I was at the Fleet Farm Outdoor Show last Friday standing next to the Winchester vendor who was out of ammo and I overheard a father tell the Winchester rep that he was planning to bring his 12 year old son to next weekend's Appleseed but had no ammo. I introduced myself and said that one way or another I would have ammo available there for him if he came. |
