With the panic and all I decided to put afew other projects on the backburner and build some AR's.My Noveske was all on it's lonesome.Timing was maybe not so great but honestly iv'e found the hunt for reasonably priced and available parts kind of fun.Kind of like a web based scavenger hunt and it's not like the AR is my go to.The M14/M1a is my girl and Iv'e got a few of them.So far so good on the builds.Lessons learned...do not attempt to assemble while loopy from the flu.You will put the detent in before the spring on the bolt release and have a hell of a time getting the detent back out. Also,if you crush your thumb between a pair of 150 lb magnets to where your entire thumb and half your palm are black and blue it's probably not a good time to install a collapsible buttstock as you will launch the rear takedown detent spring into space and you'll have to pay your kids in "gold" aka dollar coins to find it for you.Still, all in all going smoothly. I still need a bolt carrier (I have an RCA already and will probably just get another one)and barrels.I'm thinking the fixed stock will get a 18" SPR barrel,YHM Todd Jarrett handguards and be a dedicated scoped rifle. The other will be a pinned 14.5 lightweight with FSB and moe handguards. I have another lower coming in afew weeks from a pre-order with Phase 5 and I have a hankering .300 Blackout version of my Noveske. If we ever get back to the days of Thanksgiving day sale $50 lowers I'm going to be in serious trouble.

Coins in pic are 1oz copper bullion rounds with the Gadsen symbol, just thought they were cool

If you were going to be totally honest, you would tell people to wear eye protection during a build even if sober.

These are my copper balls, I have many more balls like them but these balls are mine.  They are my special balls.

Each one is 4.25ozs.  I have never had a good reason to post a picture of my special balls.

My last build was on National Gun Appreciation day.  I pulled a Rock River lower out of the safe and built it up for a future .300 Blackout.  The Magpul stock on it is Black.  I should have a pic of it.

I stand corrected, I did two lowers that day and I even found the one spring that went flying and landed on the carpet so I consider that gun 'Lucky" and it gets the .300 blk upper.  I should add That day was also the Bday of a friend of mine, her nickname is Rocki and she happens to be from Illinois so the gun is likely to be named Rocki.  everyon say hello to Rocki Jr.

LOVE the Samson rail.Very light, fits the hand beautifully, rigid and I can add rails only where I need them.Still experimenting with diferent placements and attachements.Think im close to ideal for me with a Thorntail on top,Samson QD socket to the left rear (both of which are stand alone and don't require attaching a rail section) and I'm thinking the final piece will be a Gear Sector hand stop on the bottom and replacing the heavy and ridiculously overpowered light I currently have mounted with something abit more ...svelte.The only real negative is it does heat up rather quickly when you light it up with ill intent but it cools quickly as well and given it's role as a house gun weight and ergonomics trump the need for gloves if I ever were to run a high round count carbine course.I did not install it myself but having watched the install video it is certainly within a laymans abilities given even a smidgen of mechanical aptitude.

Copper balls huh .I immediately thought of Conker the squirrel.Quite possibly the finest, funniest and most morally bankrupt video game ever created.I just had an overwhelming desire to smash your copper balls with a frying pan

WTF is that?  I have never heard of that squirrel.  Never had access to brass balls either!  Just the classics, copper, silver, gold and nickel, stuff used in plating at a friends business.  I was given a coffee can or two full of the copper balls because they knew I coveted them.  I like to do my impression of Bogart in The Caine Mutiny with a pair in my hand.

They are also good as a visual aide if you are trying to teach your SO a trick or two.  It gives you an idea of their manual dexterity before any damage is done.

I think any gun guy would marvel at the sight of a 5 gallon bucket full of copper balls!

What's the diameter of those copper balls? If it's slightly less than half-inch (like between .490 & .498) it wouldn't be long before I stuffed one down the barrel of one of my muzzleloaders.

I wonder how many I could cram into a 12ga magnum wad?

Where's my wrist-rocket?

Sorry... they just look like they're made to be projectiles.

You will need a bigger gun.  I never put calipers to them but well over a 12 gauge muzzle.  Looks to be 1" or just over.  With these it is better to think cannon.

For me, they are just my "precious" copper balls.  What I wish I had done when I got those was buy some of the plating equipment that went on auction.  I got them when a factory that made surface mount electronics and boards closed.  I still have access to the expertise to do it but I would have to build the set up from the ground up.  They did however make me a nice custom steel parkerizing tank and after I move I am going to fire that up for fun.  I may never do it for money and go down the FFL path but I could see having park parties.

I want to buy some old beater Model 12's, cut them down, park them and refinish the stocks in a nice oiled finish.  To practice I may buy old bolt shotguns and single shots.  They can be had cheap and given as gifts.  They make great door guns, barn, shop, shed or ATV too.  If I get good at it, I will call the ATF and give them a check.

Park party? You have my interest.Had thought about picking up a park tank myself since I always have a project or 2 kicking about but never dropped the hammer.Figured I'd start off slow and use a stainless pot to park blades I forge but the blacksmithing is on the backburner...again.Too many hobbies and projects.
