Just last January -- though the facts are in dispute -- Pistorius' friend and boxer Kevin Lerena said the track star was holding a gun at an outdoor café when it went off. Lerena said Pistorius was showing the gun to a friend.

"That was a major mistake what happened from Oscar's part, it wasn't intentional," Lerena told CNN's Piers Morgan last month. "And that also could have been a very bad event and something that could have been very tragic. We are all very fortunate that day. And after that event, Oscar was very apologetic."

Lerena said the incident was purely an accident.

"That's how dangerous guns can be," he said. "But by no means did I think he was negligent with the gun."

- He was holding a gun in public (showing it to a friend like the highest order of moron)

- Obviously in addition to his earlier stupidity a vast lack of knowledge, training, and self control with the gun

- Thinking he wasn't negligent (WTF?!?)

- Piers Morgan is still among the living

- Everyone in the story would probably do the world a favor by becoming lost and never seen again

That's all I have right off the top of my head

He missed.

Only one round was fired.

He is not disabled, he is differently able.

What's wrong? This:
"That's how dangerous guns can be," he said. "But by no means did I think he was negligent with the gun."

Guns don't just "go off" by themselves, unless defective. Operator error is to blame, so how is that not negligent? Did he intend to fire his weapon at an outdoor cafe?

Who is this dufus, what does he know about firearms, and WHY is he even being qouted... and why would anything he says have any relevance?

Because now he claims to have accidentally shot his GF 3 or 4 times......

including once in the head......

Through a closed bathroom door........

After they had an argument.......

He thought it was an intruder (taking a dump on the toilet?).......

Yes, she is dead now.

Dufus is right.

I don't have an issue with someone showing someone else their gun in public anymore than someone showing them their phone. I do think the first thing he should have done would be to drop the mag and clear the chamber. If it's out of the holster without the intent to shoot someone, then it better be cleared.

That said, I think he should go to jail for myriad other reasons.

Again, Hollywood is perpetuating this issue. Someone should build a ammo-replacement like the laser ammo cartridges, but instead make it screech out a siren if the primer gets hit. Then you could physically show people that the internal safety is, in fact, totally fine. I guess a blank would also work if you confirmed the barrel was clear, but the siren would involve less pant changing or risk.
