Very nice, I'm impressed.

Dear Belisarius_33,

As a father of six, the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut truly breaks my heart. I pray for the victims and families. Violence is never the solution to any problem, especially in schools. As a parent, former prosecutor, and District Attorney, I believe public schools must have the tools they need to ensure a safe environment.

In response to any school shooting, many people naturally look for ways to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. Emotions are high and people look for an immediate solution. These automatic reactions, however, are not always effective or comprehensive. I believe the problem is not the absence of law, but the lack of law enforcement, respect for human life and dignity, and other fundamental social and health problems often ignored in communities.

I deeply respect the freedom guaranteed under the Second Amendment and oppose burdensome regulations that attempt to limit the Constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. There are already many provisions, on both the state and federal level, to regulate the license, sale, purchase, and use of firearms. Our nation must work together to fully enforce these laws and regulations already on the books. Additional gun control measures will have little impact on criminals and could adversely affect law-abiding citizens.

Tragedies like this should bring people together, not push them apart. I appreciate the time and effort you took to contact me with your concerns on this important policy issue. Please feel free to continue to share your thoughts with me in the near future.

Sincerely,

Sean P. Duffy

Sounds like a reasonable response....

I got the same response from him.

Got this same response yesterday while I was at the counter of the gun store.

I expect to see a few more in the inbox over the next few days. My running count from Johnson is five now. Not to surprising that I have zero responses from Baldwin yet. I might have a heart attack if she would actually respond. Her normal way of dealing with opposing viewpoints is to ignore them. I am apparently not worthy of her time. So glad she remembers that all WI residents are her constituents.

If you mean Hodag, I was there Thursday. Looks like they're doing a bit of price gouging too. DPMS AR mags for $40, and well-worn AK mags for $30? Um... no thanks. Primer supply seems to be dwindling too. Handgun cases were full again, and as I was leaving, I noticed 7 S&W boxes on the counter by the door, with MP15-22s inside, that were likely just delivered.

I'll be honest I'm only looking for bx25 mags right now so I can't speak to the mag pricing.  Glock selection is thin, and s&w pistols were movng fast. I saw one ar 22 clone on the wall, but I didn't see make. Not much to see in quality used long guns, but I took note of the new display cases for the pistols. Fancy oak cabinets but the shelves make it hard to see the lower shelves. I've never bothered trying to buy my reloading supplies locally, but I don't reload that much. I was starting to ramp up on the reloading when this latest round of panic buying made that difficult to supply.

Yup, noticed that too. You have to bend way down to see what's on the bottom shelf. But they are pretty.

Only used gun that caught my eye was the Marlin Camp Carbine 9mm. It would've come home with me if I had the cash.   AR clone on the wall was a S&W.

Predictably, no further response beyond that for several weeks, and I did include my full name and postal mailing address...

As for Rep. Pocan:

Mr. <Redacted>

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the horrific events that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut and gun safety legislation. I appreciate you taking the time to write to me and express your concerns on this issue.

My thoughts go out to the families and victims affected by the recent mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. This was a deeply tragic time for our country and the parents and families who lost their loved ones. Our nation's hearts were broken by the deaths of twenty children and six adults at Sandy Hook. The events in Newtown served as a painful reminder that we must work harder to ensure the safety and well-being of not just our classrooms, but our communities all over the country.

For me, the tragedy in Newtown led to a great deal of reflection about what we must do together to reduce violence in our communities. I believe we need to address this problem with a set of comprehensive policies and I share your commitment to ensuring we move swiftly in Congress to protect families from future tragedies.

I fully support the Second Amendment and I believe well regulated gun ownership is essential in order to protect citizens and reduce gun violence in our communities. While there is no perfect solution that will eliminate all gun crimes, there are many things we can do to significantly reduce the danger of guns getting into the hands of criminals and those that are mentally ill. In addition, we must work to find a solution to this ongoing problem that plagues our country.

I believe that we must focus on a wide range of policy changes as we seek to prevent mass shootings like the one in Newtown, Connecticut. I came to Congress to advocate for increasing our investments in mental health. I look forward to working with my colleagues to move the country forward on this issue.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. Your thoughts and opinions on this issue are of great value. Please feel free to use my office as a resource at any time, and visit www.pocan.house.gov for up-to-date information on a wide range of issues before Congress. I look forward to further correspondence with you on this and any other matter of concern you may have in the future.

Sincerely,

I got the same one from Duffy, as well as the same one from Baldwin.  Don't expect much from her.

Couple days ago, I got a letter in the mail from Terry Moulton 23rd Senate District.  I'm typing out the letter, so any typos is my mistake.

Dear Mr. SilentDrifterGT

Thank You for contacting me about gun control.  As your State Senator, I value your input and I appreciate you bringing your concerns to my attention.

I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees the right of a citizen to keep and bear arms.  In the past, I have opposed measures that infringe on the rights of the law-abiding citizens and I plan to continue supporting our Second Amendment rights in the future.

Your views are very important to me and I appreciate you taking the time to write.  If you have any questions or concerns about state-related issues in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Terry Moulton

Wisconsin State Senator

23rd Senate District
