Just sent in for my concealed carry, anyone know at what kind of waiting time I'm looking at before I hear back?

It was less than 2 weeks....

Alright, hope it still is about that. Was expecting it to be a little worse

Last I heard, just about a week, depending on how far away you are.

A guy at work got his a few weeks ago and he said it took alittle over a week.

I think it was # 134xxx

At least it won't be 44 days like (some) us first month applicants ;-)

That was about a year ago now.  I remember it fondly and the wait was about as exciting as when you're a kid at Christmas.  We all were checking these forums on a regular basis, living vicariously through the lucky ones who already recieved the coveted envelope from the DOJ.  Fun, exciting times people.

I wonder if there will be another backlog when those of us in the initial rush all have to renew at about the same time?

Yep, got mine in a week or a little more.  Then again I have the background checks done by Homeland sercurity and the FBI already.  I have the Hazmat endorsement on my CDL.

Unfortunately, this is irrelevant.  The systems in place for these checks are totally separate.  The duplication of effort with background checks is stupid.

My friend mailed his forms on Tues, Oct 23 and received his license back in the mail on Mon, Oct 29.  (He lives in Madison.)  So, speeds are pretty good these days - ~2 day turnaround, and some mail time.

My change of address/new card took a week a month ago.

My students have been reporting an average turnaround of four days when mailed in.  I'll see if I can get some one to hand one in and see what difference is if any.

Took less than a week for my wife to get hers.  Even with a Hunter Safety cert from MN.

Took my buddy about 6 business days to get his recently.

Sonuvabitch...

I mailed mine in on Oct. 4th... DOJ FINALLY returns my phone call today... Appears mine somehow got lost, and they never got it!

Now I gotta send another application out, wish they would've returned my calls sooner!!!

I wish Wisconsin CC was recognized in Minnesota.  I originally got my CC in Tennessee when I resided there.  Looks like my best option is to apply for a Uah permit but I think I will need to retake the class.

You can thank the WI DOJ for that (WI will not recognize MN) ...

Minnesota IS recognized in WI,  the DOJ website says so.

http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/ConcealedCarry/reciprocity.asp

Any person who is at least 21 years of age, who is not a Wisconsin resident,* and who holds a valid concealed carry license issued by any of the states on DOJ’s list will be recognized in Wisconsin as an out-of-state licensee, per s. 175.60 (1)(g).

In establishing this list, DOJ has tried to be as inclusive as possible and has communicated with officials in every other state to obtain information about their background check laws and policies. This list is current as of 06/11/12:

Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas Kentucky
Louisiana
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
Nebraska
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Pennsylvania
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Virginia (Non-Resident Only)
Washington
West Virginia (issued after 6-8-12)*
Wyoming
Puerto Rico
U.S. Virgin Islands

*A Virginia non-resident license specifically states “non-resident” on the license. The resident license does not qualify for recognition in Wisconsin.

The differences are:

MN requires live fire.

MN requires a "gang task force" database lookup.

WI requires neither of these, so a straight up permit from WI won't apply in MN.  This is not a WI DoJ issue unless you are advocating that WI require live-fire.

It seems to be relatively easy to get a MN permit as a WI resident with the proper training and certificate from same. They are 'shall issue' and an out of state resident can apply to any sheriff.

If you are going to go that route, Utah is probably a better choice though. (But watch out for "you must be a resident of the state of the permit you carry" parts of the law that some states have.)

I wonder if MN could accept a WI CCW if the person has had it a year or something... I probably do more live-fire in a month than their requirement. Classes ask people to bring 50 rounds so it's not much live fire.

The frustrating part is that I had live fire training for my TN permit.
