I often play medium stakes poker at Potowatomi. I have done so for as long as they have offered poker.
Wednesday night during play I got up to use the restroom. As I approached the facilities a young security guard approached and stopped me. He saw the Buck SBT clipped to my left pants pocket. He informed me that weapons of any kind were prohibited at Potawatomi. He asked me to go put it in my car. He was very polite, professional and insistent. I complied with his request. It was obvious by the reaction of security at the entrance that he radioed them about me and a description. My EDC includes this knife and other items. I have easily carried it into the casino more than 1000 times. FWIW there have been several attempted robberies and a few successful among my poker player friends. This is an all cash sport. The bad guys have an easy time figuring out who leaves with money thanks to the casino. Heads up if you go there you may want to take precautions. I am "altering" some of my habits. Jeff |
| Wow. I have never heard of this. I have walked in and out of there hundreds of times with thousands in my pocket and never had an issue. Whether it be 5pm, or from 9pm-5 am. Regardless I always carry my super illegal stiletto. One factor that could be I've never had a problem is I always drive my moped there and park right outside the parking garage doors and look poor as fuck drivin it :) |
| I bet if you asked they would provide a security gaurd to walk you out to your vehicle if you had a god night and was walking out with thousands in your pocket. Even better is just not going there all together! No reason to support them and their special "rights". I'm not anti-indian in the least, I just don't like it when a certain race has special rights that the rest of us don't. |

Given his tone, I think there is a back story in which an intoxicated post-Roasted Nuts Parruthead wandered on the reservation late at night, smelling like smoke...pork smoke...and woke up in a strange teepee with no money left in his wallet, a kemosabe tattoo down the shaft of his "peace pipe" and his backside hurting from an odd and painful yet mildly arousing tingling sensation...in a place it didn't belong (and he couldn't easily inspect). The kind of story that only comes out six sessions and two thousand dollars into repressed memory therapy, frequently involving the question "show me on this doll where they hurt you". ![]() ![]() |

Asking for an escort is an option. A bad one I think. It marks you as a winner with money. The guards are unarmed.
One of the regulars had an escort a few months ago. He had 13K and it was 3 AM. According to the regular the guard walked him to within about 50 -60 feet of his car, turned around and walked away. The customer had just got into his car when another vehicle quickly pulls in behind to block him in the stall. He sounds the horn and eventually the car pulls out and leaves. The escort never looked back. Video later shows the perp shadowing the poker table all night. Same guy is in the blocking car. Jeff |

Jeff IS it possible to have the casino cut you a check for your winings or deposit it in your bank acount? I don't gamble and if I did I wouldn't do it at an indian casino (unless we were all allowed to open a casino) so I don't know if this is possible but it would seem that they need to have some way of making it safe for there patrons to leave the place. Or do people not want checks or other proove because they don't want to claim their winnings on their taxes? |
