Ok so I still want to go sky diving. At some point my ideal would be a 30,000' jump with o2.  Not interested in any halo crap. I just want to see the world at a different perspective. Let's face it. I have looked death in the face and beat that mealy mouth bitch down once already, I think I can handle this. I'm am not trying to tempt fate, I just think it would be awesome to do. I am not much a tandem guy, want free fall and pull.

Anyone interested? Anyone know how much this costs?

About $220 for a tandem jump at the place in Fort Atkinson. Gotta be a few thou to be certified to jump by yourself. Dunno though. Jumping out of a PERFECTLY GOOD airplane isnt my idea of fun.

That is really cool. Not much for the thought of base jumping, but with a sail it would make it safer.

Side note. Related video afte is called "taping your boobs and other stuff." lol

I would like to say that i have never met flame in person but. there are a lot of mentions of him being accident prone and he also almost shot himself while reloading. so let me tell you this. My sense of irony is extremely satisfied in this thread

I spent 20 years as a roofer, so I have no fear of heights. But.... jumping out of a perfectly good airplane just for fun? No thanks. If the plane had engine trouble and was going down, I wouldn't go down with it, I'd be the first guy with a chute on and out the door... but to do it for recreation is nuts.

I hate flying and would still hesitate to jump out of a plane if there is a slim chance of someone saving it/landing it.

Wife jumped a month ago, dislocated and fractured her ankle in three places on the landing.

You want solo IAD (instructor assisted deployment) -this is not a tandem jump

We took both our nephews to Atmosphair and 7 Hills ....7 Hills I know has IAD dont remember if Ft.Atkinson teaches that or not

7 Hill's DZ is near Marshall,WI

Our nephews went on to military parachute training...one completed HALO a couple of yrs ago the other still loves to skydive and will no doubt take it back
up when he gets back from Afghanistan

they both liked 7 Hills club alot and it was cheaper....Atmosphair was a good training area also....7 Hills was closer to all of us so we ended up going there more.

I would not recommend one over the other except for proximity both are good and as safe as it gets

DYOD though

imo

I did it in Shiocton back in 94. Went with a large group. Did the all day training so we could solo jump using a static line. Had to climb out on the wing strut and then jump from there out of a 172 at 3500 ft. They hooked a one way radio to talk to me to steer me onto the DZ. Everyone should do it once.. it was an exhilarating experience.

If I have to auger in .... it's not gonna be with another guy strapped on my back........

A few shots of tequila and I get the sensation of flying.

I'm good with that.

I did a tandem jump about 2 or 3 years ago.  It was awesome.  We jumped from around 11,000 feet.  When it came time to pull the cord, I actually got to pull it too.  They also let me "steer" for a little bit, but took over when it came close to landing time.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  The nice thing about tandem was no training.  Just show up and jump.  Highly recommend it for a first jump.

I'd love to go skydiving but all the places I Looked up say I'm to heavy for a tandom jump I guess the want 200lbs or less. Unless it has changed or I wasn't looking at the right places. I'm 6'4" 220 lbs so I wouldn't consider my self that big.

At 6' 4", you'd probably be carrying the instructor like a string backpack.

Anyone happen to see that episode of Tosh.0 with the tandem skydiving Granny?  She was slipping out of her harness.  That's precisely what I would fear the most and why skydiving is not for me.

Looks like It's just extra for over 200. I'll  have to hop on the scale and see if I can get under 220. I'm up for a wihtf skydive day. Prices are better in groups

+1. I would love to do it sometime, but I'm going alone, or not at all. There's no way in hell i'm letting some dude strap himself on to me.

You'd better check the policy to make sure you're even covered skydiving.  I remember that as being one of those 'special questions' when I got a new policy a few years back.  They especially hate me.  For the question "Which countries do you plan to travel to in the next 12 months?" I had to answer something like "All of them maybe?"
7/2/2012 5:53:00 PM EDT

Definitely check the exclusions on your policy. My life insurance won't cover me as a pilot of small aircraft. I can't remember if it covers me as a passenger of one. I do want to get back into flying, SOME day, but I'll have get another, more expensive policy for that.

Unless I'm at the point where I have a comfortable nest egg for my next of kin.

Back in 92' or 93' my parents had taken out a life insurance policy on me. Other than the usual smoker/non-smoker questions I recall being asked about being a private pilot, participating in organized racing events, and something about scuba diving & sky diving. As long as (scuba & sky diving) aren't something that you do regularly, I don't think that it would have any effect. I just reviewed mine, and didn't see any clauses or exceptions in there for any of the above activities. I suppose that they are used to initially rate you. Doesn't hurt to review it anyways.
