Here are a few good sites I have found. Wisconsin Gun Owners. Real people fighting for our rights and not giving in like the NRA Here Wisconsin Concealed carry Here And help update this map with your local knowledge Here Just thought I would share these Just FYI: WGO is totally hardline, no compromise. The guy that runs it has a reputation of only being in it for himself, since he does no real lobbying. He can actually hurt our cause because of his stance. WCC is not that, it's just WCI, Wisconsin Carry Inc. Probably the premier organization in fighting for our CC law. |

That is a little bit of an exaggeration... While WCI is directly active in the fight for individuals, worthy of our support and an honorable organization, they are relatively new to the fight and of limited resources. Wisconsin Concealed Carry (WCC) is a different organization and has been around much longer. They have been more directly involved in the legislative process over the past 10 years, not just the past couple as WCI has. They have not become involved in the fight of individuals who have been cited in the past couple of years as WCI has.

WCC was founded by Dick Baker, and Dick was tireless and relentless in pursuit of concealed carry in WI. But after getting two versions of the PPA passed by the legislature, then vetoed by Doyle, then back-stabbed by "alleged" CC supporters in the legislative, WCC kinda fell apart when it seemed like a dead-end until Doyle was gone, Dick Baker moved out of state (Georgia, I think), and Dave Zien lost an election. Those successes (and failures) laid the groundwork for the current success of having a shall-issue law, at last. WCI picked up the ball after Doyle was gone and the Repubs took full control, and deserves some credit... but in no way does WCI deserve all the credit. Too much hard work was done by Dick Baker/Dave Zien/Scott Gunderson and Darren LaSorte of the NRA (that made the recent success all that much easier) to overlook it. I've been involved in this since 2002, and that's just my two cents. |
