Man, do some people ever have auction fever! I check over on wisconsinsurplus.com every so often, and even won a few things there.
But someone has a $1600 bid on a 1973 jon boat, trailer, and older outboard motor. I mean,
I also wonder what those glocks are going to wind up going for. Last time I saw some .40 cal glocks, they went for well over $400 before I stopped checking on them. Right now, most of the current glocks listed are at $180 or so, but the auction for those just started. |
From my understanding there's a bunch of nickel n' diming fees tacked on to items auctioned off there. Be careful and don't get auction fever. Last auction I was at some people got into a bidding war over some beat up Milwaukee power tools. They ended up sell for more than brand new retail.

I hope you are kidding.
No way is that jon boat, trailer, and motor worth that much combined. And that is assuming the motor works. The trailer was from what, 1973? IMHO, outboards, while pretty damn expensive new, drop their value like a rock after 2-3 years and keep declining from there. There may be exceptions, for a motor that is rarely used but well maintained (and can be proven). I think the average joe just parks the boat and motor in their yard and garage every winter w/o doing any winterizing. I guess the price depends on how badly the spouse want's to get rid of the boat. and for the record, I have not owned a motorized boat in probably over 20 years. I can't justify the cost for the few times I want to use a motorized boat. I have owned a number of paddle power boats over the years, and am now considering building a Uncle John's Bayou Skiff. I've also always wanted to learn to sail. I found quite a number of "popular mechanics" type articles on building your own sailboat online, from the 50's and 60's. The articles have all the dimensions and such. But you know what? Doing some research, I found that I can usually buy a used fiberglass or professional built wood/glass sailboat, with mast, good sails, and a trailer, all for less than I can spend on the materials for the homebuilt sailboat and masts alone. |

Careful what you wish for. Although most have tags, the ones on the right without are the ones he tried on for size a few weeks ago. I hear through the grapevine there was what we'll call a "floss" incident with the small one and it just showed up again this morning. Of course, hearing that through the grapevine implies there were other arfcommers present at this party. Oh wait, I understand. Disregard. ![]() ![]() |
