I just picked up an M1 Garand and was wondering if anyone on here had experience reloading 30-06 for one.

Any recipes and or suggestions on powders and such, I plan on using Hornady 150g fmj bt's.

I will be loading on a Dillon 550B, and I read on another forum that IMR 4895 doesn't drop well from a Dillon powder feeder? does anyone have any knowledge of that ?

Thanks,
Dave

you will get a lot more responses in the reloading forum.
and tag. as i just got a garand as well but have been too scared to load anything for it yet as if you load it too hot you can bend the oprod.
i believe keeping the FPS under 2700 is the thing to look for. they also sell adjustable gas knobs for the garand, so you can shoot commercial ammo, and not limit yourself to surplus or reloads

I forget what the exact load was that I did up for my brother's, but I had real good luck with 147 grain FMJ's at about 2700 fps with 4895.  As long as you stay towards the 'weak' end of .30-06 loads & 150 grain bullets, you should be fine.

Here is a link to a chart provided by the NRA of approved loads for the garand.  Pretty nifty.  http://masterpostemple.bravepages.com/M1load.htm

Reloading forum has tons and tons of information as Flamethrower will agree too. Just do everyone a favor too and look through the tacked threads at the top of that forum there is plenty of information there too.
