Was he on the roof or in the structure?

I also feel terrible for the IC in stories like this, because he/she will probably feel responsible for not pulling them off the roof or out of the building.

As far as I heard they were doing an interior attack when the roof collapsed on them

Sure makes me wish all buildings were sprinkled...

Thoughts and prayers to the families and fellow Fire Fighters.

Nobody should have to die for an empty old theater building. I can't imagine what those brother's up there are going through right now. There's a series of pictures floating around on Facebook of the incident. Looks like a lot of mixed tactics were being used (elevated waterway in use while interior attack was being performed, opposing PPV, etc.).  The only hope is that we can learn what happened and use it to prevent more pointless line of duty deaths.

Rest in Peace brother...

That is correct. They were inside, and the roof (which also had a significant snow load on it) collapsed, trapping them inside. The fatality was Jamison Kampmeyer, a volunteer with the Colby F.D., and he was also a Marathon County Sheriffs Deputy... a double loss. Kampmeyer was the father of 3, the youngest being only 4 months old.

Sad day indeed. R.I.P.

Risk a lot to save a lot. Risk a little to save a little.  A lot of lives will be affected by this incident.

Take care, brother...
