"Hey Mrs. Mainfr4me, I know it's Valentines Day, but can we go get something at Starbucks?  I know you haven't had one of their Chai Lattes in a while.  We can hang out for a while and maybe buy some of their bakery stuff too if you like."

Chai?  My wife will be 100% in

If you want to take it further, there is a pro-2A group asking you spend $2 bills on valentines day at Starbucks. $2 for the 2A or something. I think it's kinda hookey but I'm gonna be there anyway so I'll just stop at the bank first and see if they have any $2 bills. Heck it might be fun some of the young biristas might even think they are fake.

I like this:

Elliot Fineman, CEO of the NGAC in a statement. "Open and conceal-and-carry are among the reasons there are 12,000 gun homicides each year in the U.S.”

Hmmmm, lets see, how would there be a gun homicide without someone carrying the gun in one fashion or another.  So I guess I agree with him 100%.

i disagree 100% because people who legaly carry guns were more likely then no responsable for most of thos homicides. so how can you blame law abiding citizens for those homicides?

“That attempt didn’t really gain much traction, and in the subsequent financial reports for about a year, Starbucks reported increased profits at their stores,” said Workman. “That indicates to us that not only are people not as worried about legally armed private citizens that may or may not be in their midst – they enjoy a good coffee product.”

i like this part of the artical where they are talking about  the Brady Campain's attempt at  the same thing in 2010.  i know where i'm taking Mrs. Clay on valentines day

they speak a different language there as well ordering is strange its not large small or medium is like grande and tall or something. its kind of a way to make people feel better for paying what they pay for smaller sizes.

Some of them even give you funny looks if you order a "coffee flavored coffee". I used to refuse to patronize them till their pro 2A stance a few years ago and now stop on occasion. I will even shop for the wife and kids who hate coffee but like the flavored milk products.

On a related note:  I think Alterra has posted all of their locations last I knew, does anyone know about Stone Creek coffee or the Berres Brothers factory?  I grew up very near Berres Brothers old facility in Watertown, so I usually buy their coffee, but I will also stop at Stone Creek on occasion because they are a area (Milwaukee) company.

Had occasions to use/visit Stone Creek on KK. Saw no signage. Was only place in area that I looked at to while away time that had no "peace place" or cry-baby(anti walker) signs, so I went there. Or to Collectors Edge comics.

On separate note, maybe strange question(not so much in my head). I have had the occasion to frequent some funeral homes and churches in the past few weeks. None were posted that I saw or noted. Has anyone seen/heard of any? Like In said, maybe strange question.

The one church that I have talked with their buildings folks on the issue last I knew were leaning towards not posting, but not allowing their employees to carry.  I have not heard the end result though, and that was some time ago.  They were very aware of the increased liability if they were to post the building itself.

ETA, In my message to them I never said a thing about open carry, so this must be response they use for "right to carry" emails that they recieve.
Dear Peter,

Thank you for contacting Starbucks Coffee Company.

Thank you for your feedback regarding Starbucks' policy on open carry laws.

At Starbucks, we deeply respect the views of our customers and recognize that there is significant and genuine passion surrounding the issue of open carry weapons laws. We comply with local laws and statutes in the communities we serve. Our long-standing approach to this issue remains unchanged and we abide by the laws that permit open carry in 43 U.S. states. Where these laws don't exist, openly carrying weapons in our stores is prohibited.

As the public debate around this issue continues, we encourage customers and advocacy groups from both sides to share their input with their public officials. We are extremely sensitive to the issue of gun violence in our society and believe that supporting local laws is the right way for us to ensure a safe environment for both partners and customers.

Sincerely,

But you changed the quote to disagree.  The quote was: "Open and conceal-and-carry are among the reasons there are 12,000 gun homicides each year in the U.S.” Not, "LEGAL Open and conceal-and-carry are among the reasons there are 12,000 gun homicides each year in the U.S.”

He simply stated open and concealed carry, he did not specify legality.  I bet the # of firearm homisides when the gun was not carried in anyway is very very small.

Not trying to start a fight. But what a lot of peoPle don't know. And I just learned also. Is that Starbucks is one of the top gay / gay marriage supporters around. In some states there cups even have pro gay/ gay marriage sayings on the cups! I was told that holding that cup is like holding a picket sign. A lot of strong opinions on this subject just wanted to inform if someone wasn't aware. I did suppor them for their 2A rights views. But I can't go against my faith and support them if my money is going to something against my faith.

I'm unconcerned with most social issues- one's bedroom habits or church they do (or don't) attend doesn't pick my pocket.
