Stopped by the remodeled gander in g-town today. Man do they have a lot of guns. Huge selection of new and a lot of used guns as well. If you want to lay hands on a gun this is the place. IMHO way more than cabellas. Prices weren't bad either. My new ccw gun was cheaper here than Ive seen it at cabellas. Also have 1000 round cases of ae 55g fmj .223 for $299 which seemed like a decent deal.
I was disappointed they didn't do the indoor range like they have done in some of thier other stores. |
| I looked over thier holsters but they didn't have much to choose from. But man the place was full of guns. Would be good to get another opinion on prices as I'm kinda new to the game. They also had a great sign at the door that said legally carrying a weapon was allowed. |
| I was kinda surprised too since I've gone there before and thought the prices were too high. I got 1000 rounds ae .223 fmj including an ammo can for $350 and it came with a $50 rebate card. Also got 100 rounds wwb .45 acp for $34 which is about what I've bought them from Walmart for. |

They also had a great sign at the door that said legally carrying a weapon was allowed. Not perfect, but a good rule of thumb on a gun price (if new) is to try and plug it into Google shopping. Or check it on one of the big online stores like Bud's Gunshop Then add about $50for UPS air shipping (they require air shipping on handguns, to prevent internal theft) and about another $35 for a (inexpensive "kitchen table") FFL to transfer it to you. Assuming we're talking handguns here. So Add about $75-100 to any internet prices you see for a handgun, and maybe $50 for a rifle which can go UPS ground and is $10 cheaper at the FFL because you don't have to pay for the WI pistol check. Because it'll cost you about that much to buy it online and get it to your local FFL. Again, not perfect, but it'll get you into the ballpark to prevent being ripped off. Used guns, a bit more tricky, but they shouldn't cost more than the same one new, that's for sure unless it's something as rare as hen's teeth and really hard to get. |

Now everyone knows about my secret deal place ;) RIA 1911 for $300, Sig P220 for $350, and a Browning Citori for $600 have been my best finds there.
Its pretty bad, my parents live close to there so I swing by pretty much once a week. Stopped in yesterday - yeah - forget Cabela's now for getting some hands-on time with guns, this is the place to go. There are some decent deals on used ones too, looks like quite a few police trade-ins & such. |
I went today and was surprised by the number of guns. I saw no super deal, but alot of guns were around MSRP. I am looking for a pocket gun and all of the ones I looked at were at MSRP. There was a G26 4th gen for 700 however . Their glocks were all really high, those are the guns I tend to be most current on prices with. Their used guns were out of line, a rough shape G17 gen 1 for $429 a used gen 3 for $449. I bought my new G17 for 400 from a shop.
What did surprise me was the ammo prices, it seemed like 223 was pretty cheap while 9mm was very high. Other gun items were the same price as my local Gander. I also went to Cabelas, they were overall cheaper than Gander, but I didn't buy anything. |

I just got back from scouting out the GM in G-Town. There are a TON of guns there. Much more than Cabela's. However, they appeared to still have Gander Mtn pricing. Overall the store was pretty cool though. The set up is definitely geared towards shooting/hunting. I didn't see much in the way of camping or fishing gear (out of season I know). To my kids dismay they got rid of the small toy section as well. |

Prices are still stupid - Swiss K31 for 600 , the gen4 G26 at 700 - same gun at Cabelas is 130 bucks less. Used, ex-cop Glocks at around 500. Beat Colt SP-1's at 1500. That same chopped Krag for a cool grand - this thing been there for over 5 years. |

shit i didnt even know they were open again!
ill have to go for fun .. anyone know if they price match? handguns seem short stocked lately with the CCW stuff .. and im lookin for a Ruger SP101 and my coworker cant seem to find a .380 bodyguard i agree they are $$$$$$$$$$$ though .. saw a used mossberg 500 for $400 at the one in waukesha .. i told the manager they are $300-350 new he got pissed.. it was a basic model |

No question the "normal" pricing is goofy as shit. The point was this is the only Gander where at least a few of us have found oddball deals in the used stuff primarily. As though they made a mistake or who knows what. Nothing you can count on, just in the right place at the right time. I am of the opinion of you are in the neighborhood or heading to/coming from Cabela's, you should at least take a... Gander. Oh, how I crack myself up.

Wow, was this place busy over the weekend. Stopped in Sunday with the family to check it out.
Lots of neat stuff to look at. My wife thought the pink guns were cool, so we may be checking those out a little more. If I can talk her into liking her S&W M&P 9mm compact, I might see if friendly flame can duracoat it pink. right now she thinks its too big though. Worth checking the place out though. |

On the flyer they said they price match. I went in on the grand opening Sat, and it was busy, but I still had the opportunity to handle any gun I wanted, though they might have been overstaffed for the event. Cabelas is always so packed you have to fight for a clerk. |

just an FYI ....
gander up there had a nice Springfield loaded 1911 ... $699 on sale .. new, park'd model... best deal in the place IMHO ... i asked to see it, heres how it went: "Can I see that Springfield loaded 1911" ... the guy says: "No its not loaded" needless to say they have hired on too many people that dont know about firearms.. he had to ask for help to get the mag out to show it to me .. wouldnt let me show him .. i counted 41 guns with the hammers back in the cases that day as well ... either way.. that springfield is a nice deal ... if i was ready for a 1911 purchase it would have come home with me .. i just dont know if i will get my moneys worth being that i love revolvers |

do GM price differently at each location? Cause gander mountain prices are ridiculously high. You're better bartering at your local gun shop. Not to mention most local gun shops will order anything in for you at an acceptable price. plus if you build a rapport with them, some times it leads to free transfers of internet auction guns but on a side note does that one have an academy? the one in deforest is sweet for its cheap indoor range. |
| Although from some of the crazy prices mentioned ($600 for a K31 comes to mind) I don't think I'd be seriously looking to get something there does anyone know if Gander will do a transfer to a C&R? I know Cabelas won't, but if I could avoid fees 4473 and Brady pains maybe it would be worth it. |
