The previous post about using a 1911 for deer hunting left me to wonder if CCW size guns will be allowed to be carried concealed while in the woods.   With the new law passing before deer season is there any where some can find out if we are allowed to carry?

The short answer is YES...

The longer answer is that there is no Statute or Administrative Code which prohibits it. Minimum barrel length of handguns is only for hunting.  So long as you are not "hunting" with your less than 5.5" barreled pistol (deer hunting) you are good to go.  If it never leaves your holster while you are in the woods and you are carrying a firearm which is legal to hunt the game you are "hunting" you are good to go.
The paper guidelines booklet is just a guideline and not actual Statutes or Admin Code.  It may say no concealment, no sbr, etc but those are simply dumbed down general guidelines which do not take the time to explain NFA registration, etc..

Even now it is legal to Open Carry a short barreled handgun while hunting deer.

Is it legal to carry a handgun while hunting with a bow or other weapon?

It is legal to carry a handgun while you are hunting but make sure that you are not violating any local ordinances or state laws by carrying one (such as carrying a concealed weapon). You must be 18 years old to hunt with or possess a handgun. It is only legal to use a handgun for species that can be legally hunted with a handgun. A handgun cannot be used to kill a deer you first shot and wounded with your bow.
