Got a couple of acres and was wondering if anyone could point me to any info on whats the state requirements are in building one?  I live in Polk county.  I've looked and can't seem to find anything.  I only plan to shoot supressed 22lr pistols.  Any help would be great

WI does not regulate personal ranges.  Your municipality would get involved if you wanted to operate a Shooting Club or Commercial Range because of zoning issues.  Even then there are no WI State range specifications.  Many municipalities default to NRA Range guidelines.  Even though they are simply guidelines some treat them like scripture.    Jeff Nass (WI-FORCE President) is the guy to contact for NRA guidelines if you want to use those.

For $30 you can get the NRA's range development sourcebook on CD.  I'm just pouring through it now, and it's a lot to digest.

If I were building a personal range and there were no zoning restrictions I would just build something with an appropriate backstop and be mindful that I would be responsible for any bullets that left the range.

Polk county has internet?  Great, that's all we need...  Where in Polk county?  I live in NE St Croix and our hunting camp is in NE Polk Cty.

Make sure all projectiles stay on your property and there's not much else about it, unless your particular municipality has some other view than Jackson County.
