Congrats on winning the constitutional right to protect yourselves. Those of us living to the south of you in Daleystan are envious. Just make sure you folks don't let the progun senators lose in the recall elections. Ohh... and the Packers still suck.

I'm genuinely hoping this gives IL the pressure it needs to override the Chicago machine on this. The other thing I'm thinking is that we need to start putting some national pressure on the "may issue" states that are de-facto "no issue" in practice, like NJ, MD, HI, etc. In a perverse way, I took some pleasure that at least in WI with our zero-zip-nada issue... at least everyone was more or less equal than the severely restricted may-issue states where the wealthy, connected, and the political class can get carry permits. Of course, the wealthy, powerful, and connected had resources had options the rest of us didn't if ever caught carrying, but at least they didn't have the backing of unfair state laws.

I can only imagine that there will be a growing massive amount of pressure on your state government, now that IL is the only state to deny your/our constitutional right to carry. Winter kills lots of crap civilized people ought not be bothered with.

Congrats from Iowa!  We went thru the same thing last year, the new law took effect Jan 1, 2011. We went from a May issue state to a Shall issue. Some of your new laws are about like ours, there will be a lot of confusion at first with the new laws but it will be fine. Now I hope this will put the pressure on Illinois! |
