Heard this the other afternoon as I was on the way out. He's convinced that the libs will be able to wrest control of the senate if the (R)s pass it, and that the "whole argument in favor of CCw has been that folks would be qualified and capable" and "knowledgeable about firearms".
He rambled on about restrictions being "reasonable" or not, and my first thought was "a whole lot of people voted "D" the last election - maybe we should ensure that you actually understand how the election process and government work in order to cast a ballot - would that be "reasonable", or would the (D)'s be hollering and hooting about it? I swear that guy gets on a tirade just for ratings. |
I like Belling, he is very intelligent, and conservative, but he has zero firearm knowledge. I heard him get on a pretty good rant a couple years ago about someone having FIVE HUNDRED rounds of .22 ammo in their car. What were they going to do with FIVE HUNDRED rounds?!?!

| Yeah, funny thing is he always bitches about government trained and "qualified" people not turning on their headlights in inclement weather; does he think that firearms carry permits will somehow not let idiots through? He's an authoritarian conservative, and while I listen to him (and agree 85% of the time) I think he's full of shit (and highly hypocritical) when it comes to guns. |

I'm not all that worried about what Belling is saying.
1. As noted, he'll gore the occasional right-wing ox to prove he is "his own man" and not anyone's mouthpiece. Sometimes what he picks to do this with is more arbitrary than other times. 2. He's worried about the recall elections. I don't like what he was saying about it, but it was just one hour of his show a few days ago, and already off the radar. We can understand the reasons training is a panacea, that if you take it once for your entire carrying life, it's next to the same as almost no training at all. And we understand how it's discriminatory. Some little old lady who can't pass a CCW class, or the range portion of said class, can still stick a small handgun in the belly of a mugger who's right on top of her etc. These are nuances you're not going to get across successfully on a call-in radio program. |
