Just wanted to say hello.  I've been lurking for quite some time and finally decided it was time to jump in.  Love the forum and love the fact that Wisconsin is so well represented.

Thanks All!

I'm a member at Saukville and try to get out there a couple of times a month.  Weekdays I'll head over to Shooters Shop or Fletchers over my lunch break whenever my schedule permits.

Question...  Where on earth can you find good sushi in Ozaukee County?????  Midori's in Mequon is just about the worst I've ever had.

I prefer Japan myself

As for Oz, that 's about the only game in town I know of.  We take the family there a few times a year and have actually been pretty successful at getting the kids to try some different things.  They dig the novelty of it:  the low table, the cool Japanese soda with the marble in the bottle, chopsticks, etc.

I'm also a member of Saukville but am about to join Boone (sent in the app today).  I'll probably wind up holding onto both memberships since Saukville is still more convenient for some things.  I was there twice this week attempting to chrono a few pistol loads (I'm currently playing with Longshot in my .40).  Something like that is a real PITA up there because you almost have to have the whole range to yourself.  Of course the last time I went there was some non-english speaking couple firing about 4000 rounds of 9mm and finding each one with binocs.  I gave up, packed it up, and went home.  I'm hoping at Boone I can sort of commandeer the aux range for something like that and have the place to myself ???

We should all meet there some day...then maybe sushi

GAH! Don't join Boone!  Nothing but Fudds out there.  Join WBBSC instead; it's cheaper and better.

West Bend Barton Sportsman's Club

Don't you need a sponsorship to join from a curent member?

I'm in Jackson and Im looking to join a club again.  I was at Saukville and was thinking about joining them back again.

Welcome to the forum. Don't know where Ozaukee is, but I'm sure it's not in my part of WI.

I belong to the "go out in the woods and find a spot to shoot" gun club.... AKA WI's northwoods.

Yeah, West Bend Barton Sportsman's Club.  Just check their website and show up for one of the rifle shoots or pistol league shoots and you'll be sponsored in no time.  It does take about a month for the paperwork to go through and be approved, but it's a great group of guys and nice facility.  The Highpower shoots on the first Sunday of the month (Feb. through Oct.) are a lot of fun, as are the 200 yard prone matches mid-month.  Fees are low to shoot the events, and everyone is really laid-back and friendly.

I'm a Saukville club member only because it's 5 minutes from my house and only $50 a year.  Nice to have a place nearby, even if the "100yd." line is only like 93 yards...

Sounds nice.  I like Saukville because I can be there in 12 minutes.

How much is an annual membership if you don't mind me asking?

Saukville is $50, WBBSC is $100 the first year, but only $24 a year after that if you put in 24 hours of work (which is really easy to get rebuilding target backers, mowing grass, and doing the deer season sight-in).  Both have a $20 initiation fee, IIRC.

ETA: Also, both pro-rate the fee for when you join during the year.

GAH!  I guess I'll have to be the judge of that.  It's a fair bit closer for me and my impressions so far have been pretty favorable.  If it doesn't work out I'll have to stomach the drive further north, which I'd hate to do.  I guess I'll have to hang out with the other "Fudds" from this board that are members there for now

LOL Don't get me wrong, the deer runs are fun, but my buddy from work got irritated with some of the self-important types out there and let his membership lapse to join WBBSC.  Saukville is the same as Boone: mostly people with double barrels that think the rifle range is a waste of club resources, or the rifle shooters that plink one round every ten minutes and swab the bore in between.  It's been getting better at Saukville, though, so maybe Boone has changed in the last three years.  One thing Boone has over WBBSC is a covered shooting pad, though you non-suppressed types make that shit really noisy.
